I've heard that he is a lefty. Just wondering if that gave any of you that are righties any problems after watching his DVDs.
Thanks, Bryan |

No. If you are learning the sleights involved for the first time then it can create a problem. Some people think that it is easier learning from a lefty since it is comparable to pratacing in front of a mirror. Take your time and you'll get it.

I am a lefty and find it much easier learning from a lefty than a righty! Pity because, if this post applied to me, I should be making a living from magic!!! |

I am a Lefty and do not find Righty DVDs that hard to follow but I sometime find Righty book instructions a little harder than DVDs. I find it harder to explain moves to Righty card guys as I just forget that I must explain things backwards to them.
All you Rightys are wrong, in my opinion. Tommy
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

It's easier to follow Ortiz, Carney and the rest of you sinister bunch on DVD for us right handers. I imagine all the DVDs filmed with r.h. performers make lefties happy.
I like the "reversed" photos in Ortiz's "At the Card Table" book - but they must tick off the lefties out there.

I kinda wonder why a DVD with a lefty instructor won't simply reverse the picture and put that in an option link. God knows there's enough room on the disk for this. As long as I'm on this lefty thing (no offense, I married one), I purchased an effect from Eggink called where the entire effect (short card gaff and all) was designed for a lefty. No right handed options given. Oh well, look for it at an ebay auction near you.

Honestly, I think if you are ready for his stuff, you shouldn't have any problem learning.

I think the best way to learn is in person. Hey speaking of which, Darwin Ortiz will be performing and lecturing at the 2nd Annual Twin city Magic Convention on June 24-25, 2005. Deatils here for those interested:

I love Ortiz material(and ATLAS SHRUGGED BTW, best fiction ever printed). But ready or not, the reverse image option should be available in all instructional DVD's. It doesn't cost that much more to basically copy, paste, and flip the image. Why should left and right options be available...for God's sake we're sending crap to Mars...can't we flip an image on a screen?

The truth I never had problems with Card videos. I'm a lefty with coins so I had problems with the David Roth videos instead.

I made promise to myself to try to keep outside his front foot -circle left- if we ever got into a fight. Other than that, no problems!
