Can anyone offer any information on a magician / Dr. named Dr. Harlan Taylor. I understand he was a physician to President Eisenhower, he lived in California and had many, many card books.I purchased some of his books and found it very interesting that he would color the pips on the cards with the color they should be, diamonds & hearts of course red and clubs and spades black. His books had many underlining also. It was definitely a working library. Anyone who can offer a little history on him ?

Can't offer any info, but I did meet him once on a convention in Germany -I'm pretty sure I did show him Bob Ostins coin penetration through a silk on the carpet of a floor, using a hook coin-, didn't know his first name though, his name to me always was Dr. H.Taylor, but I recall having read some contributions to magic magasines, I even think it was written in 'german', and I too think, he was stationed in Germany way back during/after the war..

( Words of wisdom from Albert Goshman ...it paid off for him - it might as well for YOU!!!- My own magic is styled after that motto... ![]() |

Werner,
Thanks for the response, that does sound like one and the same as I believe his bookplate said "Dr. H. Taylor" as I recall. He was very interested in cards and had many, many books on the subject. I would sure like to find out his affiliation with President Eisenhower though. He lived in Menlo Park Ca. until his death. I may attempt to locate his widow someday. Thanks again for the tidbit.
