How long have they been electing the pope? I would think since the 1st pope appointed the next one, that they would keep the tradition.....
Most of my family is catholic, you would think I would know the answer

I don't like what I'm reading about this guy but I wish him well and hope that what I'm reading is wrong.

Yeah I'm not exactly glad to hear that the new pope was a former Hitler Youth member, but hey he's the pope and I'm not so he must be doing something right.

He was actually only forced into it for a short time but got out of it because he was training in priesthood.
Also, you can't judge some kid just because he was born in the wrong country at the wrong time.... Only the higher ups had any say in the matter, the soldiers either fought as they were told or were shot as traitors. Anyway, as a catholic, I can say that I'm not particularily happy with this choice. They seem to have picked him to carry on John Paul's positions in this "transition" time. I think it is time for change, for women's rights, how they address the pedifile problems, condom's in aftrica, policies on other religions, anti-homosexual movements, how certain passages of the bible are interprited, ect. The church needs to stay modern, as religion is made up by the peopl in that religion, and we are modern people. The church needs change, something that sadly I don't think Benedict will bring. But I wish him health and good luck with the papalcy, he is a good man at heart. |

The new Pope (Il Papa) is a great admirer of the Virgin Mary.
When word reached Madonna, she promptly beefed up her personal security force. She can't be too careful when trying to protect herself from Papa Ratzi. Stan Alger |
