Hi Guys,
Did anyone see the coin work recently by "Armando Lucero"? He works at the Excalibur! I "heard" his matrix routine is unsurpassed! Has anyone seen it? Sounds incredible! Do we have an unsung magic genius out there?!! ![]()

He has some of the most amazing coin magic you have ever witnessed. This guy fried me countless times, with one thing in particular. A move so diabolical it seems completely impossible. I received an email from Armando a while back that he would be releasing his work. His card work is better than most of the hotshot card guys putting stuff out now, excluding Aron Fisher, his stuff is tip top quality. Paper engine is my best purchase of the year book-wise.

Bascomb,
Armando was at LVMI doing his matrix stuff, he was doing some killer stuff. One night in particular there was a close-up pad between him and Shoot Ogawa, they both were kicking some serious butt with Matrix routines. One of the coolest things Armando does is talked about here. (Jon Racherbaumer is talking about seeing Dean Dill perform it, but you will read later that it is Armando's.) Dan |

Dan:
I looked at the thread! WOW, now you got me excited. I have got to see this! I'm going to Vegas if I have to hitchhike there. Thanks for the link! Reed: How can you be fooled? It must be great!

I'm not much of a coin guy, but this guy sounds awesome! If he fried Reed, that says it all.

The only reason that desciption is even believable is because it's Racherbaumer. I'm still going to have to see it.

I have seen it in person and it is EXACTLY as described.
Two cards one coin. The coin is placed under one card. The spectator flips both cards and the coin switches places. It is a simple beauty. I saw it super close (I flipped the cards over). Armando also did it in front of all the attendees at LVMI with a camera zoomed in on it. It garnered cheers from the crowd. |

I enjoy being fooled. I saw Armando do it at a desert seminar in Las Vegas like three years ago. I can assure you when he did this I had solutions in my mind but they weren't adding up. I swear it is a thing of BEAUTY.

I've been doing that effect for some time now, the simple effect could not have a more brilliant method. Absolute fantastic piece of magic...

That's right, John was there at that same convention. That was when I met John too. It was a killer when we both saw it.

So where will—if ever—this be available?
I defer to the coin guys here. |

Armando is going to release it in some form or another, just remember his name for when it comes out... Armando Lucero.
He has enough quality matrix stuff to release a DVD IMHO. |

Thanks, Dan!
Your picture just cracks me up man! How in the world did you pull it off within the file, size requirements? You can PM me about that if you're in the mood, as I don't want to mess up a good thread. Cheers, Ron |

Having seen Armando lecture at the International Magic Convention in December last year, all I can say is that he is amazing. Not only that but he is awesome. He did a show in the evening, about half an hour, and the stuff he did was unexplainable. I don't think I have ever witnessed something so magical.
As for the Matrix I cannot say I am as impressed as the other things I saw him do. It did not seem that original to me! Maybe this is because I had heard so much hype about it. His lecture was well worth attending, and he talked about the importance of originality and how to make your magic more magical. The only thing he taught was his additions to the Paper Balls over the head, and these adaptations really sold the trick. Amazing. Owen |

I had an email from Armando about his release, no date yet, however. He is thinking about what to tip, and what to charge. He doesn't want to just GIVE things away, he feels people really need to be serious about their magic before he would be willing to teach them.
Believe me when I tell you his material is utterly magical and most original. Coins, cards, gags, bits, all as good as it gets.

Armando spent the afternoon and evening at Dean's Shoppe today. Pete Biro, Ernie Lind, Bobby Schulgold and myself sat and watched him for at least two hours. His style, grace and perfection of execution is unsurpassed. To watch him perform his coin routine is so beautiful. Each movement has a purpose. Every moment has been thought out perfectly. As Jon Racherbaumer explained, "Rebound is the purest and simplest form of magic you will ever experience. It just doesn't seem like it is possible.
We talked about it today and I think it is time for Armando to let out the secret. I think he is going to put it out for the world to see, and hopefully soon. For me personally, I hate to see it go, but now it is time for the serious coin workers to see how this man thinks. I recommend this as high on the scale as any routine I have ever seen. Armando deserves credit for this highly publicized miracle. Look for it soon. Dean Dill |

Armando is a one of a kind magician. On top of that he is exceedingly friendly and generous with his time. I think we all have something to learn from Armando, not just his magic.
But his Matrix routine is brilliant. Reading back on what I said in my previous post it makes me sound as though I am negative about the routine. That is not the case at all, and I consider myself lucky to have been able to see this from a front row seat (especially becuase he refussed to allow the cameraman to even just have the camera on his hands, in the case he might record).
