I've been wanting to learn some hat manipulations for quite a while now. I think it would make a beautiful lead in to my dancing cane routine and my multiplying balls routine. Does anyone know of any books, videos or other instructional materials I may refer to in order to learn some basic moves? Thanks.

Charlie Frye's Eccentricks Vol. 2 DVD leads off teaching some great hat and cane moves. Really fantastic stuff! Well worth the $35 if you really want to learn hat manip moves.

Sounds interesting. Who sells the DVD's? Are they completely focused on hat and cane moves or are other effects on them as well?

There are a lot of other GREAT effects on them as well. They are available from most dealers, as well from Charlie Frye himself. Definetly pick up both of them; you will NOT be disappointed!

Thanks. I just found the DVDs at hocus pocus and they sound pretty good. I'll give them a try.

You might also want to look into juggling references as there are foten moves from those sources on hat juggling, moves, how to hold it, what hats to use etc.

There is also a video out there called "Hat juggling with Andy Head". it has some great hat juggling for begginers and some for more advanced.

An old book called "Manipulative Miscellanea" will be available from http://www.dube.com and has a whole lot of hat, cane, odd object manipulations usually related to juggling but adaptable to magic performance. I learned a lot from that little book!
