Try scotch and soda. It happens in the pectators hands and your somewhat clean at the end. Not easily repeated though.

Pen through dollar? Or Recap? Pens and pencils are always good items in school since they are everywhere.

All the suggestions are nice and all....

but you shouldn't be performing in class. Period. Especially when you are "bored". Why take the attention of others away from what they are supposed to be learning?

^Yeah. That's true, I never do magic in class unless it's right before class starts or near the end when everyone's waiting for the bell to sound. Lunch is also a good time...if you aren't hungry and don't need to study or do homework.

Sorry I forgot to mention that my teacher always give us like 30 mins in class at the end to do homework and everybody usually finishes early so we just sit there and talk or do whatever.

Get a couple of loops, wear one on your wrist, you'll find lots of possibilities to do in a class room.

That is why they call it homework, so when you go home you can start working on your magic skills

It's one thing to quietly and unobtrusively practice your faros when your work is finished, but unasked-for performances simply interfere with everyone's legitimate interest in education.

In short: 1. Do what you are in school for: learn and work. 2. Respect everyone else's opportunity to learn and work.

And, yes, this is a response from a high school teacher. And, yes, I have student who quietly works with cards when he is finished his assignments.

John,

You took the words right out of my mouth! I pay a lot of additional tax dollars every year to support the education system that we have. I also spend a ton of money to support the extra-curricular activities of the students. I hope never to find out that this money has been spent so some kid can practice card tricks in class! There's a time and place for everything. IMHO, school is not the place for magic.

I am a former high school teacher and would caution you a bit on performing vs. practicing. (Okay I taught art and photography - but it still counts!)Unobtrusive practice of sleights is your best bet for boredom. I know you have the urge to perform but that is something you can do before, after school and at lunch. Besides if you get the reputation of doing magic you will be deluged with requests and your homework will then consist of having to come up with something new every day.

I am now a working professional and I feel that is in no small part down to the practice that I got on my peers during my high school days...

They are quite simply one of the hardest audiences you can find, and if you can fool them you can fool anybody...

However I only eveer performed during my free periods, breaks and lunchtimes... When my teachers became aware I was a magician they would occasionally ask me to perform...

I don't think it is fair of people to say YOU MUST NOT PERFORM IN CLASS.. but I think it is fair to advise you to use discretion, know when to perform and know when to sit quietly and practice a few reverse passes... One of the biggest secrets of being a pro is knowing when your audience want to or don't want to see magic...

Hope this is of some help and significance...

PS... I used to love doing Michael Maxwells 'The Anywhere Cards' and making a selection appear inside my Pencil Case!
