David is right. This is why when designing or having a logo designed for you, you must take in consideration of who you are and what you want your logo to convey about you and the shows you provide. You must understand this and have this figured out ahead of time if you want the logo to be designed to brand you in the best manner possible.

If you are still not 100% sure of who you are with your magic or the markets you want to do, then you may want to hold off on the logo creation until you acheive a point where you know exactly who you are as a performer and what you want your logo to accomplish for you. Then you can have the logo created to represent this.

A well designed logo can be the basics for a great promotional campaign or marketing materials. It is what brings all your materials together as a unified whole and helps your prospects to know exactly who you are just by seeing your mark.

Good points made by everyone. Regarding whether or not to hold off on a logo because you might change it, remember that at some point you have to say, "Ok, this is enough changing, this is it!"

You can spend the rest of your career 'tweaking' a logo. This is actually true for many things. An artist said to me one time, paintings are never finished, only abandoned.

At some point you just have to start doing and stop designing. I started a video production company and sometimes I want to go back and 'fix' a video I did a year ago because I've got so much more knowledge. However, then I think about what happened when Lucas went back and 'fixed' Star Wars.

I work under the assumption that things WILL change down the road. But for now, I've got a logo that works for me today. I know my logo will be tweaked someday. This happens with many companies.

Look at FedEx. They actually changed their name from Federal Express to FedEx. Then they started variations of their logo (to include green). Another example is Apple Computers. Look at their original logo. The apple with the bite used to have a rainbow of stripes on it. Today it is a blueish looking glass orb thing. It's been updated to keep up with today's world.

Regarding being stuck with 2000 business cards, who cares? $50 for a thousand cards? That's nothing.

Bennie, you've got a great opportunity. You've got so many creative minds here. Take what they've said (and designed!) and run with it.

Good luck Bennie! Awesome!
