I am designing new logo and here is one of my ideas, tell me what this sounds like.
I am Magician Bennie... I was thinking of circle. The circle is a rope and the ends would left in knot or with out knot hanging around below the logo. . Inside it backround color maybe. propably not Then there reads Taikuri Bennie Taikuri is finnish and means magician. Then back of the a letter comes a wand through that "loop" and then it goes throuh letter B "loop" and comes out of left side of the letter e. I know this need work but I don't have any hurry. And those I points would be sponge ball looking things different color? What do you think? maybe too cliche or not? I know it is hard to visualize when you don't see it.. I was playing with paper trying to visualize the logo. Here is another idea. The wand could work one of the I points. here is picture. Sorry this is just quick drew picture. Those texts would'nt be like that so that wand would be maybe bit like 20 degrees. Not 45 like in that picture below. Or it just be a wand and that I point is a ball.

Hey Salazar:
Make this kid's day and give him a file he can use; Just to prove that not everyone in magic is always out to make a buck. Especially from some little kid. Who knows, Bennie may grow up and through you a booking some day. Besides, what are you going to do with a logo that includes the finnish word for 'magician' Bennie - Best of luck, you sound like a very motivated kid. Just make sure the magic show is just as good as your promotional materials. All the best Peter Gross http://www.funnymagic.com |

Great sharing and it is wonderful to see Anthony helping out and sharing like he has. Awesome.
However, I must warn you of several production issues here from a designer's perspective. The logo works fine and looks nice. But it may be difficult to reproduce at different sizes, as it appears that this logo is a raster based image. This means that if you blow it up of scale it down, it may lose in quality. Most logos are better off being done as Vector based images. This means that all the art is based upon mathematics and can be scaled to any size with no resolution loss. If this is being used for a website, you will have no problems with it at all. If you are using it on any print material, make sure you can get the file at hi-res (300dpi) in the exact size that it will be printed on. This way you ensure the best accurate color and quality in the finished piece. Other then that, I think it looks fine and should serve you well. It was really nice of Anthony doing that for you like he did. Just wanted to give you some information to think about before using it on printed materials etc. This way you will get the best results you are after. Hope this helps. =) Kyle

Kyle is right. When you resize a raster based image, pixels are either removed or added sometimes making the image look jagged.
A vector based graphic can be infinitely zoomed in or out without losing any resolution. I could've made it using vector shapes or created it in Illustrator. Also, keep in mind that the image is in RGB and not CMYK. But, for now, I hope Bennie would get some use out of it. |

Not a problem at all. Infact I knew that Anthony knew this as well. He and I have met and talked many times at local conventions. I figured it would be a good time to educate a few others who may have an image like this and wanting to use it on materials. It might save you some time and money knowing this ahead of time.
The art that Anthony did for you looks great and should work good on a website etc. Since he did it up for you in hi-res, it should also hold up fairly well for you also. Great stuff Anthony and it's supewr that we can share and help each other out. Kyle

You could spend all this time fretting over a logo, or you could be practicing and selling.
You're not Coke or Pepsi, or Ford or Chrysler - for that matter, you're not Copperfield - you're not a brand and you don't need a logo - put your time, money and effort where it actually pays. |

Ross,
In your view, at what point did Coke or Ford or Copperfield become a brand? When do you think is the right time to incorporate a logo as an identification factor into a person's marketing? |

You are most welcome. I hoope that some of my tiops and suggestions were of help to some. It is great to see that Anthony took the time to do that for the young magician. I know as a designer how hard it is to design a logo and brand mark that works well for you in your market. For Anthony to do that, was a super nice gesture on his part. Well done. Ross: I would like to agree that we can disagree. Branding and marketing your magic is very very important iof you want to continue to be working in magic and to get the gigs that you want to be working. Now if you are doing this for a hobby or do not do many paid shows, then I can understand how the need for a logo or identity mark may not be important to you. However, if you are planning on doing paid performances for clients, then you simply should invest in professional marketing materials and branding yourself in such a way as to get the clients to know who you are and remember you. Keep in mind here that often times, the first impression you make on any prospect or suspect is through the use of your promotional materials you are sending out. You need to make yourself stand out from magician A, B or C. If your materials are top quality and have a consistent brand message and image, then you are sending an impression to the prospect that you are not just a product. That you are (such and such magician) and they will remember you for it. Everything they see gets the same brand image or mark and that restates who you are and helps brand you in their own minds. Professional materials and a professional brand can make the difference and change the perceived value in the minds of any prospect. It really is a strong thing to have and to have done well. Just my humble opinion. Kyle

There is always someone who is negative- (points finger at ross)
A logo is important for your marketing materials - when you constantly contact your prospects repetition is important- but how can your message be remembered if it is always changing. At the same time- A logo can have disasterous effects such as Having a logo on all your marketing materials and then if the logo doesn't seem to work for you you are stuck with 2000 business cards with a bad logo so Please take the time to look at your logo and look into the future.- It will save you money later.
