Just wondering if you had any influences you would like to share as far as helping you with your performance as a piece of theater as well as helping in defining your persona.(books ect.)
Also who do you enjoy to watch perform magic? Thanks Bryan Mcabier |

My influences are vast. I've learned from observing and analyzing countless performers. A few who come to mind are George Sanders, William Powell, Tyne Daley, Clint Eastwood... It's an eclectic group. But I've also learned from other types of performers, such as singers (e.g., Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Patti Labelle) and plastic artists (Marcel Duchamp would be a primary example), and so on.
Who do I enjoy watching perform magic? I'd include the obvious names -- Jay Marshall, Mac King, Tommy Wonder, Lance Burton, John Thompson, Eugene Burger, Jeff McBride, Michael Weber, Gaetan Bloom, Flip, Juan Tamariz... I could name dozens more, but will stop here to avoid getting into trouble! |

What have you taken from your musical influences that has contributed to your mentalism?(if you can pin it down that minutely)Is it rhythm?Have you studied theater in the academic sense?
thanks for sharing Bryan |

As mentioned in another post, music has helped me understand timing and rhythm, but also performance structure.
Other than a brief time during high school, I've never taken a formal acting course. But I did act in plays during high school and college, and that was incredibly useful. When I'm asked for advice about "how to become a better magician," one of my standard replies is to join a community theater group. |
