I'd like to set up a fundraising tour through regional areas for schools, churches etc. Essentially, the schools sell the tickets and we split the profits.
Could anyone point me in the right direction to find some resources on this subject? |

There is only one complete and well designed program that meets your needs. I have several Fund Raising Programs but only John Kaplan's Fund Raising Program is the best in undrestanding how it works, how to market it and you get a complete templete with his program which includes his marketing promotional video.
If you are concerned about John's David Dee Apprach of selling, let me say this, what he wrote on that page is accurate and if you are disappointed you can return the package. If you like what you read, then go for it. He also has up grades and other fundraiser ideas which are good. I love his Halloween Stage Fright Program Fundraiser So you can hit the schools twice, Oct then in the spring. As for the schools it is a lot of work but it is only what one puts into it do they get back. Check out these two Sites: John Kaplan's Fund Raising Program Program Upgrades I have everything on those pages except for the Satilite program

By the way, I have seen John Kaplan (the performer selling the course / product that Den mentioned), perform live on several occassions over the past 20+ years, at fundraising shows and at theme parks. He is a very professional family performer, mostly doing stage illusions with some stage magic.
I knew of him long before he produced this product, and he is the real deal. Although I don't own this product, I have heard great things about it. Here is one review, by Mark Nilsen, you might enjoy reading: "Sometimes, the program is good." - Donald

I'll vouch for John Kaplan's products, of which I own nearly all of them.
Good materials, well laid out. A word of warning though - the system works ONLY to the extent you are willing to put in the effort. If you put in the effort and make it your own, you're on your way! Kind regards MIke |

Mike is absolutely right, For instance, one easily can spend $25,000 in buying an illuion show, a trailer to haul it, a lighting and sound system, and backdrop system, the assistant, and stage hand.
Or one can use the system to sponsor an Illusion show, act as program coordinator, line up the shows, and market the show. I've done both and I don't think it would be possible without the learning tools I got from John Kaplan. I've learned so much from him. John uses this program every year and develops a new program every year. Check out this year's program: Making Magic

Thank you all!
I'm not sure about a program that requires me to put 'effort' and 'work' into. Is there some sort of Dave Dee Get-rich-quick-without-working-a-day-in-your-life program that I can do? :) Seriously though, is the Kaplan program suitable for those who wish to make it suit their environemnt. E.g. can you 'rewrite' the handbook etc. |

John Kaplan actually gives you much of the work done for you and all you need to do is tick in YOU and YOUR STYLE of performing. It is THE source for charity tours and John knows his stuff because he has used the exact methods he teachs you to make a healthy living as he has for many years. John doesn't just write about it, he does it and has for many years so this is all practical and tested material. What you are really paying for is the time he is saving you from making the same mistakes he did learning it all. With his system, as long as you have an excellent show and are a good performer with a good product, the rest will be easy if you follow his system. In fact I think he even offers a money back guarantee with it if it doesn't work the way it is taught (I could be wrong but I am pretty sure of that) but truthfully if you do what he tells you to, you WILL make it work anyway.

Yes, there is a money back guarantee. And yes, John insists thet you use his work as a template to rewrite your own book. Of course you would want to use his logo, his picture and every piece of material that has his name and address. You will want to re-write it, I did, and I left out things that I didn't want.
As for a "Dave Dee Get-rich-quick-without-working-a-day-in-your-life program" you could sell candles over the Internet. Kidding aside, you could get an organiztion to sponsor the show, give a big donation, school sells tickets, and you do the show. Use only schools that have a stage, a sound system, and adequate lighting. This limits your choices, but if you got a knock out show, this might work for you. (Haven't done this) Some Back room sales, and you can make money. You want to make a million dollars a year, then you got to make $80,000 a month, $20,000 a week, or $3,000 a day. Unless you are David Copperfield, or partners with a Casino, this is not a reasonable reality. Kaplan makes $100,000 a year working 120 days a year. From that comes expenses. That is reachable, but hard work and determination, is the key. By the way, you could go into telemarketing and do less shows, less magic and make money. That's a whole other topic.

I made $200,000 last year pre-expenses....
But its the AFTER expenses figure that's important (I employ ALOT of people!) |

Then you can afford the Kaplan program! GO for it!

Ha!
Good point... (but my profit is much less impressive. I do a lot of packages where I book myself and other performers. I might do a $5000 gig but only $800 of it goes to me ) |

Perhaps then you need to work yourself as an entertainment broker or agent and get a fee for getting the other performers working for you. Just an idea.
