Name: The Cobra Cut Collection
Available from: http://www.xtremehandz.com Comments: Purchasing and Shipping It's been a while since De'Vo's last release, so with only just getting back into the scene I new I had to buy this. I recieved my purchased from the US (shipped to the UK) within 7 days of placing the order, so the service is remarkable. The packaging was in excellent condition on arrival. The artwork on the front on the DVD and the DVD case where, as always, excellent and set the mood for the rest of the tape. Menu System One of the things that has annoyed me with some of my purchases is that the menu systems never seem to be done quite right. Theres always bits missing, or sometimes (Richard Turner) no menu at all which makes it really difficult to navigate and defeats the point of a DVD. This DVD presents you with four many category's immediately, and are broken down into sub sections. No arguments here. The content From this DVD you will learn: The Basic Cobra Cut - Each stage on how to set it up in great close up detail, different colour schemes for different shots and advice on card selection. He even provides a small test for how you know your cards are ready to Cobra cut. Of course, there are no words and the teaching is amazing, you really cant help but learn. Bonus Tips - I wont go into too much detail but one of the most important things provided here is the small handed method for the Cobra cut. Again all taught with focus on the hands and fingers motions. The Advanced Cobras - The Triad - The Quad and The King Cobra. These moves all look awesome, multipacket cobras with ideas on catches and closers. Even though I cannot do these cuts (yet) I can honestly say that from watching the DVD I already know how. You watch it once through and you know the formula. With steb by step instructions repeated and walked through you will never need your rewind button again! Each section also contains some "Pro Tips", and IMO this is what the DVD is all about. You can watch any kid on the internet do the cut poorly and learn the basic method. But when you buy this DVD you see in explicit detail every single finger position, but you also recieve pro tips from some one who has been doing this cut for years and knows every single nuance and "out" to make it work. Of course, this is all taught to De'Vo's original music, and he even tries his hand at rapping from time to time! You also recieve access to a unique "read-only" Cobra forum where all extra tips and hints that have come about since the production of the DVD are placed. This is the icing on a well editted, professionally taught cake! If I had to say anything negative about this DVD, and lets face it I have to to make this a balanced review, its that it seems that the small hands method for the basic cobras will not be able to be used in the more advanced methods. Note: It seems, I havent actually tried the more advanced ones yet and I'm sure witht he support you recieve from De'Vo personally he will be able to help out. I would recommend this to everyone interested in magic, flourishes, XCM or an interest in Art. |

Lastly, also included is a tool for all budding XCM practicioners to present there moves in the context of an entertaining routine. Its a walk through of concepts and moves gradually getting more difficult and interesting. It provides the backing music and commentary, no video footage, this is your space to be creative. This added extra is what seperates this from many releases, the amount of thought that has gone into this project is un surpassed.
