Hey Max
what a pleasure! Anyways I'm new to magic, well been performing for about 5 years but only recently got into mentalism and start by watching your video mind series. One of my favorite tricks on there is the one where you use 3 fiction books to get a spectator to think of something. One of the books is The Third Deadly Sin by Lawrence Sanders. I just got a copy of this literally 5 minutes ago and was dissapointed to see that the pages don't match up with the specific lines you say it would. I understand it could be because of a different publication or something like that, but any way for me to find the exact book with the right 'features' (without giving too much away)? Thanks so much. I'm surprised to hear that the text arrangement is altered. Did you buy the American paperback? Those layouts do not usually change. But, if it did change, you can easily find an earlier edition at a used bookstore (e.g., http://www.abe.com). And, for that matter, there are many other books that will work, if you do the research to find one.

One of my favorite moments on the VideoMind series (aside from the large amount of killer material) is when Eugene Burger asks Max if he discovered the "special feature" in the Lawrence Sander novel himself, to which he sarcastically replies, "Yes. Otherwise it would have been on someone else's video" (paraphrasing).

Yeah that is pretty funny.
It's a hard cover...not a paper back.Maybe that's the why there is a difference.. durgy |

The paperback is what you need.

Max, Will you be performing/lecturing at any of Muhlenberg College's activities?

I did participate in the one a couple of years ago, and enjoyed it very much. I think Larry Hass is doing something very good with these programs. |

The book for some reason is out of print here in the UK, to get a used copy here would cost nearly £40.00. Thank heavens for Amazon.com. I had the exact same edition sent to me, even with the postage costs it was still a decent purchase. Again, if you know what the paragraph is to look for, and given the limited choice of force pages, it shouldn't take you long to look for those sentences. |
