Greetings Max,
In the second edition of "The Psychology of the Psychic" by David Marks the entire chapter contained in the first edition on Kreskin has been eliminated with the comment that "Kreskin is no longer considered relevant to the serious study of the paranormal. Would you care to comment on Kreskin's influence in the entertainment arena, past or present? I still remember his TV show years ago and although not as frequent, hear from time to time reference to him. Also your thoughts on other notables such as Robert Cassidy, Ross Johnson etc. and there impact on the art. Thank you. |

To be frank, I consider Kreskin to be primarily a place-holder. He duplicated Dunninger's act (albeit fit to his own persona), and for some years had the television market largely to himself, but I don't feel he moved the ball forward.
Ross Johnson and Bob Cassidy are solid mentalists, in a field that has a rather low batting average. Other current mentalists whose work I like include Michael Weber, Marc Salem and Derren Brown. There are others, such as Tim Conover, Eric Mead and Banachek, whose shows I would presume I'd like, but I've never seen them do a full show. And I'd better stop here, as I know there are significant names I'm forgetting... |
