I don't think electronics "cheapens" anything. However, I don't use such devices.

I remember a conversation with Ali Bongo years ago, where we agreed that the problem of electronic gimmicks was that you can't tell if they're about to fail, whereas with rubber bands or adhesive tape you can see the condition.
