Ok. The trick is to spin the bottom card(top card?) off the deck using one hand. You get it to spin real fast and you will then be able to catch it with your other hand.
What is the name of this flourish and how do you do it? Is it in any books or where else can I learn it? Thanks, Jim

I was thinking of something more along the lines of what is seen in this video. It's right near the end. He does it horizontally a few times, then up in the air a few times and then once around the back. He is deffinatly pulling the cards off the bottom of the deck.

Ohh Yea.. the Jeff Edmonds Video.. that's like 3 or 4 post down.
I have no Idea what that is call, but I'm almost certain it's covered in Jerry C.'s Encyclopedia of Card Flourishes, but I haven't read that far in it yet. I can do it, not as good as jeff E. and not behind my back I just start the thumb cut hold the top half between my thumb and palm, stick just my index finger under the deck, and pop it up, It's all in the wrist. I'm working on being able to flip it in both directions and sideways. But I should look it up to make sure I'm doing it right. I bet someone else here has more info. |

Yup, that's it, the long distance spinner. Ok now that we have the name of the trick lets work on the second half of the topic;)
But seriously, is this something that needs to be bought, or can it just be simply taught. I did a quick search over the internet for it and saw that it was an instant download on penguin magic. I just don't think that flourishes should be sold individually. They should all come together in a book. $5 for one flourish is a bit much, but maybe that's just my opinion. Jim

Long distance spinner is not thr real name, but rather the name given to it by penguin. Its a "Thumb Propulsion", which is covered in Jerry's book.

Are you sure it is not called the Long Distance Spinner by Audley Walsh. I think thumb propulsion is alittle different.
page 127 The Tarbell course in magic vol. 4 it is used. In fact I can prove it is the LDS, because this is a direct quote from Jerry: "Jeff can do the Long Distance Spinner better than anyone, and his packet flipping is surreal." |
