Does anyone have a clue as to the gimmick or gadget that was used for this effect? I have looked everywhere for some explanation?
I thought this would be good to use in the restaurant environment as just another climax. |

If you don't care about leaving sharp broken glass fragments on the table afterwards for the diners and waitstaff to risk cutting themselves with when they try to clean up after your mess.
I don't think you'll be working that restaurant for very long...

Very true. I have an idea for a publicity stun. You go to a very very classy restaurant. Ask to see the manager and explain them what you do. "Accidentaly" you drop one of their glasses( you must be near one)...and breake it. Then you restor it. and hand the restored glass to the manager, That would be cool! And will get jobs like mad.

I have seen this effect advertised somewhere
on a website. I would never perform this effect except on a video or T.V. for teh exact reasons Philemon Vanderbeck stated. |

yeah, I know how it's done. I wouldn't do it either.
It might be more practical to have a glass knock over instead of shatter? On a related note... I am thinking of having my own TV special where among other cool things I stare at a car and it explodes in a huge ball of fire. I don't know why they keep having blaine do things with wine glasses when they could have me making cars explode. Blaine's good but I don't think he knows That one.

I am guessing that I know what Blaine used. You can get it from stunt supply companies.

making a car explode? If I had to guess I'd say you've just got a pyro guy with his finger on a trigger. Not sure if that'd impress me. Do you have some way of randomly picking a car on the street? Please don't use my car ok?

that's my point spiff. I feel it's the same thing with the glass.

Dante has several sized versions of a glass shattering effect. I wouldn't consider it though unless you covered the glass with a glass or plexiglass dome, covering, etc.

If you don't mind me asking, when and where is Blaire on television? I KEEP LOOKING BUT CAN NEVER FIND HIM! Is he on ppv or something?

Am I mistaken, but didn't "Ella Fitzgerald"
shatter a wine glass with her "VOICE" on a memorex commercial about 30 years ago?

I thought he really threw the effect away - I suppose that's his style, but it got a very lame reaction, and didn't really deserve much more.

Did anyone else notice that the woman that gave commentary afterwards, who was on the far left during the effect, was none other than well endowed glamour model and tabloid regular (here in the UK) Lindsay Dawn McKenzie? Weird coincidence?

The web site could have been this one : http://www.magicfact.com/catalog11/contents/pages/p271.html I have seen it advertised elsewhere but can't relocate the site. The effect is either a glass or bottle shattering, or a plastic cup leaping into the air.

Get a friend with a BB Gun and extremely good aim. That is all I will say, and I don't recommend doing this and I will not take any responsiblity for someone getting hurt, lol.
Check out my new effect "As Good As It Gets" a gimmickles pencil or pen through bill effect. It closely mimmicks the slow motion phase of "Misled." About "As Good AS It Gets" for no gimmicks and everything being borrowed.

Personally, I love the melting wine glass better, much more visual and a lot safer too!

I tried to search to see if anyone had posted that tit-bit (pun intended) before, but didn't find anything. I recognised her when I saw it on Sky the first time too.
It seemed there were some extra scenes in the Channel 4 broadcast, bits I didn't recognise, like extra performances of Healed & Sealed. BTW if I didn't own H&S I wouldn't have known the can uncrushed itself, you can't really see it happening, they could have filmed that better. |
