I do a lively multiplying ball routine in my kid's show. At the start of the routine I vanish a ball then reappear it twice. For years I've just done a French drop twice but have decided I would like a bit of variation in the vanishes. Can you recommend an alternate vanish that is simple clear and strong which can go before the French drop to compliment it and provide a little variety?
Thanks
George

Palm proper false transfer... would be a 'put' instead of a 'take'. This might work for you?

I would reccomend checking out the McBride series of videos as that would give you a wealth of information for various moves that may work best for you and the routine you want to do. It is a great resource for anyone's library.

Depends on the ball size somewhat.

Variations of coin moves can work fairly well.

Referring to Bobo's:
Roll instead of Slide Vanish.
Simple Vanish.
Thumb Palm while clipping the ball between 1st and 2nd fingers.

A couple of good, practical vanishes are shown on Tim Wright's video of the "Multiplying Balls".

Thanks guys.
Craig that's a lot of help, I hadn't thought in terms of "putting" and "taking" but that makes a lot of sense. I was playing around with false transfers and was thinking about a palm transfer or retention transfer. A retention looks pretty good (especially with the bright yellow balls I use) but I keep catching my thumb moving in a rather suspicous manner, I might play around with a palm transfer.
Cheers Jaz, I'll check those out, the balls I am using are about golf ball size but a little squishy (I think Empire make them) I think a could thumb palm one.

Thanks for the DVD recomendations, call me a cheapskate but I'm not sure I'm going to fork out for another DVD just for one vanish.

In a recent issue of either Magic or Genii, in an article about Romaine, if I recall correctly there is a move explained that you may want to consider.

Why not consider something like the Silent Mora Wand Spin to effect the vanish?

Some of the few vanishes that I can recommend are all from McBride's world class manipulation volume 3

Cardini vanish
Ed Vorhee vanish, but this ones more complicated
Romaine supervanish works as well, or try swoger swoop. you can show both hands empty at the same time with those

A topit comes in real handy for vanishing balls. Then steal it right back out of your jacket pocket at the proper moment.
