Hi, I recently purchased the "art of levitation" at one of Losander's lectures and I am looking for ways to go about constructing a bubble zombie cloth. The video explains the basics, but if anyone has ever done this before and has any ideas on the materials and where to get them, that would be great. Thanks

Alan,
The cloth can be bought where ever fabric is sold. For the special "something", try welder's rod. Then, think of a half ball. For the liquid solution, Losander gives that info on the CD. Hope that's informative and yet incryptive enough for an open forum. Good luck Rob |

Oh No! Rob,
Welding rods are my real secret and I can't even weld! The other is the threaded rod that goes on the float ball in a toilet tank. (Great piece of useful equipment! Get the copper ones. They bend without breaking.) Scheme! Bob Magic By Sander |

Thanks a lot guys, I will try the welding rod and the threaded rod from a toilet tank. They both sound like great ideas.
Thanks again, Alan

Welding rod will probably not be stiff enough for a long gimmick. It also should be covered so it does not rust. A black shoelace thread over it works well.

Coathanger wire covered with a black shoelace tube works well. The problem is, they don't make shoelaces like that any more so you'll have to hunt some down. Rub the shoelace to see if it is a hollow tube. If it is, you're in business and you'd better buy several because they're getting scarce.

Hi All,
I use Piano or Music wire. It is the stiffest rod that you will find. It comes in various different sizes usually ranging from 0.015" to 5/16"+, and is fairly inexpensive. It can be easily found at a Hobby Shop that caters to Model Aircraft. Just look up Hobby Shop in your local phonebook and I guarantee that you'll find a shop that supplies it. It is VERY stiff and is very hard to bend in sizes over 1/8". It also not that easy to cut. You just can't take a pair of Side cutters and cut it. You'll need something a with a little more cutting power than that. I use a Dremel Tool with a cut-off wheel, or a grinder. (With Safety Glasses!!!!!!). Hope this help? Michael

You can take shrink wrap for electrical projects and put it over the coat hanger or welding rod.
Music wire is going to take about .080 or more to have enough stiffness to handle any kind of weight. I work with music wire all the time. On the plus side, it will give you a bouncy motion that will make the gaff appear more fluid and bouncy. You could also put a small piece of music wire at the end of a stiffer wire (like the welding rod) to give that same effect. Cutting this heavier wire will be best done with a dremel as previously suggested. Richard

Liquid electrical tape works well for coating a wire/rod. It drys quickly and has no gloss and does not add greately to the thickness. It is inexpensive and can be purchased at most hardware stores.
