Much is made of torn and restored cards, or torn and restored newspapers, but little logic lies behind these actions. Why are you tearing up a playing card other than to prove you can restore it.

However, take a slip of paper like a lottery ticket and you find a little more logic in what you are doing.

"I was down the Fox And Hounds last Saturday night when my mate Jimmy popped in for a pint. I asked him why he was looking so glum? He told me he'd changed his regular lotto numbers for the first time in ages and five of his old set had come up this week. He was pig sick. I asked him if knew what the numbers were this week as I hadn't heard. He reeled off the six and I looked at my lotto ticket. Nothing, as usual."

Starts to tear the ticket.

"Don't know why we bother I say. Just then the TV flashes up the numbers for all the draws. He's given me the Thunderball numbers. Jimmy, you idiot. He tells me he always does the Thunderball. More chance of winning. But I think I had a few of the Lotto numbers, I yell. I look down at what's left of my ticket. Jimmy, I say, it's lucky your best mates with a magician."

Restores the ticket.

"And just before you ask, it was only a tenner. Otherwise do you think I'd be standing here now?"

Thanks. Smile

For some more fun, have a look at the Ramsay trick: And the Cat came Back.

Imagine a shaggy dog story about a lotter ticket with someone's number written on the back. You could probably end with the peices turning into bills for a climax.

I Love the additional eneding of the ticket turning into bills. That really is a suprise ending and could tie in with the story and patter really well. Nice idea there Jonathon.

Or you could say that the only thing I really got from that ticket was my change back. The ticket would vanish and in your hand where the ticket was would be a handful of change.
