Love Me Love me Not
“Love. Such a tricky business. You love him and he doesn’t love you. He loves you but you don’t love him. Finding the right person and having the right timing can be a life journey. No wonder old witches took the trouble to come up with so many love related spells and potions. Actually, most of you would recognize the common tool used by old time witches to divine whether or not our loved one loves us back. Loves me, loves me not, loves me, loves me… not. That’s right, they used flowers. Now everybody uses flowers. I guess there is a little old witch in most of us. But that was the weaker tool, dressed in a simplistic symbols and interpreted as a black or white, no gray area. Most of you never heard of the tool they used in rare occasions. The tool they used on themselves. Think of your loved one. I am going to tell you once and for all what you never could have known for sure in a lifetime. I have here a packet of twenty cards, some black, some red. You are going to pick one of those. If you pick a red card, that’s definite, your loved one loves you back. A dark card? That’s something else altogether.” The performer goes over the cards one by one until the spectator has selected one. The card is revealed and it is a black card. “You chose a dark card and you should not feel bad about it. That is a sign for something beyond love, that is a sign of true love. Where a red card [the performer turns over a red card on top of the packet using the black card he is holding] does mean love, it only indicates fading love or temporary love. A dark card however is a sign for true love, love that is soaked with the intervention of a higher power. That’s because only through the intervention of a higher power you were able to find true love amongst all those fading loves [The performer flips several red cards on top of the packet and then flips the rest of the packet to show all of the cards are red except from the black selected card]. You should consider yourself extremely lucky”. -------------------------------------------- Any thoughts?

WONDERFUL! thanx for sharing!! that has a lot of potential!!
it would be excellent to combine this with Luke Jermay's rose effect in Coral Fang...a dead rose comes back to life...this would be a great follow up... thanx for the inspiration and keep the vibes coming! Baba |

Thanks Baba.
Actually, this presentation was derived from the presentation below, which is also mine. It has been through so many bizzare thought processes until it finaly settled upon the presentation above. I bet you won't be able to see how the above presentation was derived from the presentation below. I like both ones and I guess it is a matter of choosing the presentation according to the situation. A Needle In A Hay Stack "Has someone here ever really tried to find a needle in a hay stack? Me neither. I guess it would be a time consuming search if you used your trusted eyes, but that's not how I would do it. You see, my wise grandmother used to say that one must not search with his eyes, one must search with his heart. Whenever she really needed something to be found, she would send my blind uncle to look for it, and you know what, he always found it, usually in a place one of my other sighted uncle looked in for several times. This ability is not unique to blind people, but is far more developed for them, much like their other senses. In fact I am pretty sure I can demonstrate it right now. I have here a packet of twenty cards, this is our virtual hay stack. I would like you to pick one up and turn it face up." The spectator turns a black card over (or a blank card with bolded "HAY" printed on it) "You see, no heart this time. If you keep taking cards one after the other and flipping them, eventually you’ll probably find the needle. The trick is doing it with your heart and finding it at once. I want you to give it a try. Just move your finger over the cards one by one and stop when your heart tells you to." The spectator stops at a card. It is flipped and shown to be a red card (or a blank card with a bolded "NEEDLE" printed on it). "You see, everyone has it in them. [The performer shows the rest of the cards in the packet, they are all black cards (or blank cards with a bolded "HAY" printed on them]. It is just a matter of trusting something you can not see in order to find something you can not see." --------------------------------- Actually, my grandmother really said that and really did send my blind uncles to find stuff she really needed. I was looking for something the other day and couldn't find it. Then my father found it for me and told me what his mother used to say about searching. I liked that sentence.

Like the needle in haystack idea. may want to include a magnet for the spectator to use to find the needle. I think I have seen somewhere in print a needle in haystack idea with cards, but I cant remember. and of course, at least, the following three marketed effects all have similar presentation ideas, as well as a few we posted here after a discussion of DICEMAN.
