I saw a preview of it. It's a fantastic show about taking on some real poker players. I'm assuming other shows will do the same with other betting games.
Really high class look and production. Greg

I originally saw the show where they take on poker players and that was excellent. Just viewed the show on cheating with dice... Wow!
Great to see this creative bunch put together a highly entertaining show that doesn't try to copy anyone's style. I'm sure now other will be trying to copy their style. Great job, guys! Greg

I've been a Paul Wilson fan for a while so I was looking forward to this show. The show was well done and fun to watch. I thought it would be mostly about cheating at cards so I was intrigued that the show is about different types of cheating. Next episode is about cheating at pool.

I liked the show as a whole & was glad to see some top rate people get a great project, however it really seemed to be more of a re-enactment of what actually happened because the camera angles really did not seem to be taken from any hidden views. I also questioned the success of the atempt as they were discovered on all fronts from the initial switch of the die, to the magnet & several of the individuals involved, but I did not feel that was a negative of the program as it adds to teh realism of the situation. I do look forward to future programs.

I watched the show and overall, I loved it. It was very compelling and very unique.
The one thing I questioned was the camera work, and the legitamacy of the situation. Maybe I missed something. Did they ever explain how they managed to have what appeared to be several hand-held cameras filming the entire event at the craps table? As the previous post suggested, it would make more sense that what we saw was a re-enactment of the takedown, and not actual footage. But again, I loved the show and I will certainly keep watching! Maybe Jason England can explain this, seeing as he is a member here at the Café, and he was on the show last night. Mr. England? Hello?

Thanks for the comments on the show.
The close-ups of things like the cup moving and the dice coming out of my pocket and being seen in my palm are pick-ups that we shoot after the takedown is over. We have to shoot a lot of these sometimes as the wandering cameras never know when they might happen. Without these inserts it's almost impossible to tell the audience what happened in a 30 minute show. We usually give an excuse for the cameras to be in the environment we're working. On the craps day we were supposedly shooting a show about "Gambling And The Law". The staff were not supposed to know we were shooting "The Takedown" or that we were planning to cheat on the table. The actual events on the show - increased security, deciding to switch the dice ahead of time, getting back-roomed before switching their dice in, asking Derek to switch without being warned in advance, ditching the magnet et. - all happened on the day and was not scripted. We walked in and they had turned the place into Fort Knox! We did everything we could to get something past them. As I said on the show, we should have just walked away but we were there to prove we could cheat even when they were burning us. When the production company found out that I had switched the dice ahead of time they were really ****ed but I felt that I was entitled to take the shot since security were obviously waiting for us to do something. It was a genuinely heated situation. So much happened on the Craps show that we had to cut several things out. There are two dice switches that are NOT in the show because it would confuse the audience. In fact, security had been beefed up so much that we were forced to think on our feet and try anything we could. It was pretty stressful! That being said, had we been at that table the day before we shot, we had a real chance of getting the five for five past the staff when they were'nt expecting it. The presence of the cameras often causes security to show it's best face and come out stronger than they normally would but that's the only way we can shoot these shows without the whole show being grainy and uncomfortable to watch. This was our first show and it took a couple more before we found better ways to operate within each environment. It's been a lot of work and there are some very cool shows on the way that use some of the equipment I've been involved with in the past. Best, P |

Paul thanks for the insight, it would be a cool ideal to make this information available as a credit trailer to the show at the end or as follow up on the COURTTV website I think the viewers would really enjoy some of the behind the scenes work & difficulties.

Hey Paul - loved the second episode! Especially how you incorporated the 'documentary' line into the set up to account for the cameras. If you don't mind, can you share a little on how this project got started and how long it took to put together? Did you develop the cons (for the show) yourself or did you collaborate with someone? Anyway it was great TV and I hope you're getting what you want out of this project. I know as a fan of cons, scams, etc, I'm getting what I want out of it.
Kindest regards, Anthony Tuccillo Sebastian, Florida

When was the dice show on? I thought I caught it from the Premiere, and I TIVO'ed it too, but I did not see a dice show. How is Court TV about airing repeats?
Did anyone tape it? |

The one with the dice switch was the first episode of Takedown. They normally run the previous weeks episode on wednesday at 10pm central standard time.
