Place 2 cups beside each other so they are 4 and 1/2 inches apart (measure from rim to rim). If you are using heavy cups you don't have to fill them with water, but if you are using light cups or styrofoam cups, fill them with water. Once the cups are set in their positions, they can't be moved.

The props you will be using are a real egg and a dollar bill. The object is to place the dollar bill on the rim of each cup in such a way that when placing the egg on the dollar bill, it will not fall through.

How is this done and be specific.

Fold the bill in zig zag concertina formation, along the length.
Open it out a bit and span it between the cups. It will then
be strong enough to support the egg.

David, you are correct. When done folding the dollar bill that way, it will look like an accordian. But one thing to remember for those who read this post and try it, if you don't have enough zig zag folds, the egg will not hold. There must be many, many zig zag folds for it to work and it must be a crisp dollar bill. An old wrinkled bill will not work.
