It's been a little quiet 'round these parts lately. Soooo, something to get the creative juices flowing....

Your doing your day-to-day Escape artist thing, you know, cleaning your cuffs, getting funny looks at the Home Depot because of all the chain you buy, picking shims out of the dryer lint trap...that sort of thing and the phone rings.

It's the call. I mean THE call, it's Mr. Big-time-Tv producer. "Hey, Kid!" he starts "have I got an opportunity for you. I got this show, big stuff, you'll be a star. I want you to do for me a big time thing. We'll end the show with it...I want something no ones ever seen, real original like. Here's the thing..." (now this is the important part, pay attention Smile ) "it's got to be super. I mean to make them forget that Houdini guy, so I don't care what it cost. Whatever it cost, you got it, what ever you need we'll have it built, where ever you have to go...we'll send you. This is the big time Kid! By the way, I don't got a lot of time so, I call you back tomorrow to see what you got for me."

So, you get THE call...what would you do? Someone is ready to give you everything and anything you'll need to put yourself on the map...What would you do?

First I'd say "SHOW ME THE MONEY",then describe
three escape events I already have the plans for:

1.Flying Coffin of Death

2.The Human Cannon Ball

3.Dragon Fire

Then after describing each one,let them pick what they want,
and take there large up front deposit.... put it in the bank...
and let the production begin!!

A big star needs personal security, Ms. Morgan, to keep her safe from the massive and cheering crowds of adoring fans....

....I volunteer!

As for the topic you brought up, I would be asking, "That sounds wonderful, but aside from the production costs, what will MY paycheck amount to?"

As we all know by now, the performance itself is secondary to WHO is doing it. If they like you, Morgan, then they like YOU. The ideas/tricks/illusions/escapes, etc., are all secondary to that. If they are already familiar with your body of work, and they are giving you these calls because of it, then from your perspective I would just say to assume the sale and figure the contract is already yours.

Setting the terms of the contract, and convincing the guy to pay you what you are worth, is a whole other can of worms.

Good luck!

Morgan, I am with me da' money!!! Then, after da' said money has been shown, I would hit them up with my ultimte dream escape....."Escape from the Jaws of death". The escape would take place off the shores of South Africa....sorry Wolflock, I am not trying to step on your toes here, but South Africa is one of the only places in the world where we can see a great white shark with some regularity. That's right, I said GREAT WHITE SHARK!!! I would have the area baited ahead of time, then I would be locked and chained into a heavey duty shark cage that would be hooked to an unessasarily slow dipping device...(like in a James Bond movie). I would be swung out over the area where the white sharks will be feeding and slowly be dipped into the water. I will have to escape from all of the restraints and the cage and get to the safety platform about 25 yards (or meters, for our brothers and sisters who use the metric system) away. If I can't get out of the cage....I will drown for sure.....but, to escape frome the cage will put me into the JAWS of Death.....what to do, what to do???? I think that only a mirical will save me.....yes, a mirical!!! I will proceed to get on top of the submerging cage and....are you ready for this..... walk on water! All the way to the safety platform!!! I have been dreaming this one up for years....can you tell? Well Morgan, what do you think? Later on, Mike
*CAUTION* Does NOT play well with others!

Assuming it was all 'on the money,' I would present:

A huge kettle of water (outdoors) would be set up with two, criss-crossed layers of fuel-soaked railroad ties stacked underneath it. Late in the show, the ties would be set alight, and the pyre would blaze away, heating the water in the kettle to boiling.

When the great moment came, I would be chained and manacled and lifted on a platform over the boiling kettle.

A slick of kerosine would be poured over the boiling water and set ablaze. I would leap from the platform, through the blazing surface, and into the boiling water.

After three tense minutes, assistants in firefighter protective togs would hose down the burning ties and a grapnel would be lowered into the kettle to fish out the 'parboiled' remains. As the hook was raised, I would emerge; holding the rope, standing on the curve of the hook, free, and not even red!

Dr. Lao: "Do you know what wisdom is?"
Mike: "No."
Dr. Lao: "Wise answer."
