Okay,

I've been searching around the forum but haven't found anything. Anybody know where I can get antique decks?

Hi

Take a look here : http://www.blackhart.co.uk/page27.html and click on 'Grimaud Cards' and 'King Henry VIII' cards. Both are antique style decks.

Pick up the phone and call all the antique dealers in your area. Someone might have a deck, but they can be pricey because cards don't usually survive long. I saw a deck that dated from the 1860's that had been split up and was being sold for $5 PER CARD. It was interesting, but...uh...no thanks.

Here is a link to the reprint of the oldest, most complete Tarot deck.
Now kept at Yale Un. I believe it was dated at late 1400's 19 cards were
reprouced because the cards were missing from this deck. The cards are larger
than normal tarot decks!

In the mythos of the Tarot, The mages gathered in a cave (said to be in Spain) and created the deck with all the symbolism of magick. They needed a way to make it survive the ages. Knowing coruption spreads fast, the cards became a gambling game. Tarocchi was such a game.

Hi Brian

If you PM me I can give you the costs and send you e-mail pictures of the decks that I have in stock. They are the replice cards but are very good looking. I also have a playing card deck collection (about 1800 decks) and I will check to see if I have an extra deck of the antique cards. I must warn you though, even in poor condition they are quite pricy. The reproduction decks are quite reasonable
ly priced at between $10.00 and $27.50 per deck.

Take care and take cards

I myself also collect decks. Mainly old casino decks such as silver slippers and carson city nuggets, etc.
