Hi Guys:
I have heard of a lot of wonderful e-books on card magic (which also contains miscellaneous magic effects, eg. coin magic, mentalism, etc) and I would like to pick up some of them... If I am looking for some card magic e-books which have the style of "Ignis Fetuus" and "The King Has Left the Building" (i.e. mainly card magic with some mixture of other effects), which TOP THREE e-books would you recommend? (Kindly mention the e-books which are still available for purchase in the market now, author and the source that could be purchased. Thanks) |

Michael Close's "Closely Guarded Secrets" is a terrific E-Book with a nice mix of excellent card and non-card effects.

That depends on if you want downloads or not. The best E-Books I know of aren't available for download:
Closely Guarded Secrets - Michael Close The Workers E-Book - Michael Close Tricks Of My Trade - Doug Conn (written by Paul Cummins) |

The ONLY ebooks I like are compilations of periodicals - HIEROPHANT, PABULAR, and others.
Having said that; I only use them when I want to look up an effect or move quickly using the "search" function, using the "search" function detracts from the enjoyment of actually looking through the various books while searching for your target effect. I have Michael Close's CGS but immediately had it printed out into a comb bound book at Kinko's and attached the CD to the back cover, that made it into a much more enjoyable book and one of my favorites. I bought two ebooks from Jamie Badman but lost the password to be able to read one and on the other one, he sent me the wrong "book" and never answered my email to correct the situations - some of this may be my fault for not writing more than once and with hope he would respond but I judge a person by his response to his customers. Based on my experience with the "Underground" (Badman) I would refrain from spending any more money with his company. Chris Wasshuber has a company called Lybrary.com and seems to have a good reputation - I've not bought any of his products as of yet but probably will buy the CARD COLLEGE series when the complete series is digitized. He has a lot of ebooks available and I would recommend people who need to flesh out their own libraries to peruse his website. Jon Racherbaumer.com has 12 ebooks and 11 emanuscripts available for his "Premium" members ($60.00 annually) that are some of the best I've seen. I bought the hard copy of Jeff Pierce's THE KING HAS LEFT THE BUILDING WITH AMNESIA and he now has an ebook available with the same title (much to the consternation of those of us who bought the hard copy [we thought we were getting an exclusive limited edition])- but the book is great so it stands to reason the ebook will be fine for those of you who have the patience to read an ebook. I am certainly biased since I publish magic ebooks, but my recommendation would be to get ebooks that make really good use of the electronic medium. For me this means a meshing of video clips, illustrations/photos and well written text. There are three ebooks that fit that bill:
1) Card College 1 (the ebook) - 89 embedded video clips; it created this category 2) Card College 2 (the ebook) - will be released ~2 weeks with over 100 video clips 3) Closely Guarded Secrets, Michael Close BTW, all three are available at Lybrary.com. Chris
Lybrary.com preserving magic one book at a time.

By far the best value ebook I've bought in terms of effects I ended up actually using was 'The Underground Collection Volume One' from http://www.underground-collective.com - most specifically 'Three Wizards' and 'Pain, Strain and Backache' are now regulars in my repertoire. Eagerly awaiting a Volume 2, assuming it's going to happen.

Yeah, it is. The only ebook from us that's no longer available is 'The Cheetahs Handbook' which was a limited edition release...

I think Asher's material is really good and if you want somethings on stacked decks I would reccomend stack atack and the zero memorization memorized deck. All are top notch and some of my favorites.

Michael Close's "Closely Guarded Secrets" is a very high quality ebook, even if the tricks are not all so easy to handle. And P duffie has great material. Check Thunderstruck for example.
