Card cheat
Cool! A student of Erdnase maybe. At least someone who knows what they are talking about. Tommy

It is strange but I do not think a card cheat would dream of doing that or anything like it. It is like a football player would foul the opponant to gain advantage on the field of play but would not do it on the street. One could argue about the flawed logic of it but I think that's how the card cheat sees it, more or less. Tommy

Magicians seem learn mostly from Erdnase, sharps and flats, Vernon, Marlo published works. Phantom of the card table, The punch letters basically books and DVD's that are products for the magic market. Why learn things like the center deal? For me why do a fake way of dealing centers when you can do the center deal if all you have to do is put the time in? It is like why force a card with a trick deck when you can use a real deck? To me if an audience see's a demonstration of a second deal as the top card is turned face up and the second card is dealt. And this is a show of skill - that does take practice - shows that the magician has done their homework and has strived to reach a level of skill. This changes the attitude of the audience. Instead of a magician that is there to TRICK the audience with tricks. They now look at the performer as a qualified authority of his craft. They relax the challenge toward the magic and see the performer as worth listing to. And when this mood shifts happens I feel it can be the best performing show business entertainment that can happen. And this is why I like doing what I do. Instead of doing it the fake way.

It seems that,
some people don't know how to respectfully express their opinion without insulting others. Mr Bishop is a well known world-class magician with vast knowledge and experience in magic. His credibility is questionable only from people who, without knowing his background, jump to conclusions. This Café is a wonderfull place to learn new things and gain a different insight into well-known things. If only people could keep an open mind in everything... As eastern philosophers would say, "empty your cup". |

I’m surprised nobody suggested Lew Brook’s Stack Attack. It has some great gambling routines involving stacks. http://leeasher.com/stack_attack_brooks.htm Good luck and have fun! Will P.S. Don’t you hate it when sand gets between your cards! LOL! |
