I received three emails which I was very cautious about.
The third one was from nitelitemagic.com who seems to have sent a mail to almost every member on the Magic Café. (At least there were other names on the list of mails that ý recognised from here) It looks like the other two mails came by mistake, but were the source of the list of names - that is to say another person supplid the info to nitelitemagic.com to send the third mail. Is this not spam? And is this therefore illegal? |

Lee,
My Mother sent all of my family the same email yesterday, and I did not ask for it. Is she Spamming me? Here is Google's definition of Spam: "An inappropriate attempt to use a mailing list, or USENET or other networked communications facility as if it was a broadcast medium by sending the same message to a large number of people who didn't ask for it." I guess everyone has their Spam filters set at different levels within their heads. What if there was a fabric trade show in your home town and they sent everyone who had purchased fabric in your town an email announcing the event. That would be Spamming correct? Would you be happy to find out about the event since you are a quickchange artist? or not? Even if you had not signed up for their mailing list. It does not bother me to get emails that contain information about magic since that is my business. If I don't want it I have this amazing little button on my keyboard that reads, "Delete" and it works. I did not get the email from nitelitemagic.com and so everyone did not get it. Me I would change the definition of Spam a bit. But don't get me wrong I have no interest in getting "Junk Spam". I don't need a new watch, I don't want any of my organs enlarged, and I don't want to talk to this girl who thinks I am lonely. Get this, the reason people send out all this Spam is......it works. People are so impulsive they buy it. Unbelievable! If they didn't buy it then they would stop sending out junk Spam. I invite anyone who is evolved in the world of magic to put me on your mailing list. If you can help me in my business then I want to know about it. But if you want to be on MY mailing list you have to double-opt-in to protect me from you accusing me of Spamming. I am smart enough to get your permission. Steve Hart the "Motivational Magician"
