I just saw a cups and balls routine this last 4th of July weekend and as a final load there was a firecracker which lit after it was produced! It was a fake M80 firecracker which the magician lit immeidately after producing, this scared the crowd. The wick was like a sparkler. The magician said "It's been a blast"
It was pretty funny.

When I demo the Cups & Balls, my first final load is a golf ball, which just fits the little plastic C/B sets that I sell. My second final load is a "D" battery, also a perfect fit.
I pretend to have trouble accomplishing a cup penetration with one of the balls. Then I lift the loaded cup and expose the battery, saying something like "Oh, I see what's wrong -- the battery's dead!" Always gets a really good reaction. I got the idea from a video clip of famed dealer Al Cohen, who used the same battery load as a kicker for the Coin Penetration Tube. SETH

I produce a cup full of smarties for mine. With the method you can do anyhting that fits in the cup - salt, rice even water.

I started loading a (real) eightball about a year ago. It seems to make a big impression on people.

I just purchased a couple of antique ivory billiard balls. The patina and the fine cracking makes them perfect for performing period pieces. I am really enjoying them and people love to handle them, also.

I produce a cactus, one of those little round, ball-like cacti.

I would say that a cactus counts as unusual.

A cactus!?!?!? Wow, that is VERY unusual. I live in Arizona and we have cacti all over the place. I don't recommend spectators inspecting the props for this revelation!
