I'm looking for a LOGICAL way to produce a stuffed mouse to be part of a slightly longer routine. Can anyone suggest something? Maybe something like a drawer box (which I don't have) that I introduce as one of those humane mousetraps.

No, noooo -- not for table hopping! Besides, the mouse isn't quite realistic.

One Idea I had, which I am not wholly happy with, is a paper die (Sparks dice, www222.pair.com/sjohn/sprkdice.htm) which I fold up and produce the mouse. "Every pair of dice has a pair of mice, and inside this douse I have a mouse," or something like that.

"What's a douse?" you ask. A douse is one of a pair of dice. That's right, never say "die!"

I hate to tell you
but a die is one dice
more then one die is a pair of dice

:)

anyone someone mentioned a mouse trap
maybe you could have the fake mouse trapped in a mouse trap and pull the trap out and present it like a lil comedy... 'oops... I forgot to get rid of the moouse from last night...'

I don't know...

good luck dude

Durgy, I appreciate the suggestion, but I think you missed the point of my attempt at humor. Or maybe the "humor" was just a bit muddy. Anyway, "douse" is a joke; it rhymes with "mouse." I followed this with "Never say 'DIE!'"

I thought of the mousetrap, too, but I would want it to be the humane kind. I have no desire to show a child (or anyone!) a dead animal with its spine crushed, whether real or not.

I may just buy a dang drawer box although I hate the things. Still, now I'm leaning toward the dice thing.

Will the mouse be the right size to do a chop cup load?

Yes, Reis, it is the right size for a chop cup load. I considered that, but gimmicking the mouse wouldn't be that easy. I'm not sure if I could close it up well enough. Actually, the mouse is a cat toy and is stuffed with something kind of hard. I suppose I could open one up and try, but my (adult) son has already jumped on me for taking one of his brand-new toys for the cat.

How about a big chunk of Swiss Cheese with one of the holes in it big enough for the mouse to hide in. You could put your finger through from the back of the cheese and use it to animate the mouse into coming out of hiding. You could make the cheese from styrofoam or even rubber foam.

If your heart isn't set on using the catnip mouse, give it back to kitty and get a finger mouse puppet. It's more realistic and has no innards so it packs smaller. Kitty might decide it has a new friend.

PS: A chop cup load doesn't have to be gimmicked. It is loaded in just as you would for a cups and balls routine, so the only requirement is that it fits inside the chop cup.

Using the catnip mouse would give you a funny bit for after the production. As soon as the mouse appears you bat at it with your "paws" the way your cat does, then pick it up by the tail with your mouth and carry it around for awhile.

Then why use a chop cup? I could use any opaque cup.

I like the finger mouse puppet suggestion. The cheese has possibilities, too. Good ideas! Carrying the mouse with its tail in my mouth -- ummm, no.

I have just the thing!!!!

David Regal does a chop cup routine with one of those tiny mice that cats play with!!!

You take the magnet out of one of the balls and put it in a mouse. Then you get another one and do a chop cup routine!

As the finali of his, he produces a block of cheese and then cupful of fake mice...I like to produce a real mouse as the finali after the block of cheese. It is a really good routine (Although not quite appropriate for restaraunts unless you use the cup full of fake ones as the finali.)

The Regal chop cup idea with a mouse (mice) is quite good ...motivated and humorous.
