I'm looking for an orchestral piece that's evocative of floating or flying. Music that 'soars'. I'm considering using music from the movie Air Force One or possibly Apollo 13, but would appreciate any alternative suggestions.
Thanks, Tony |

Try the theme song from Harry Potter by John Williams. I use it for my flotation and it is perfect.

Thanks for the tip. I've been listening to a lot of John Williams music, but hadn't gotten to Harry Potter yet. There are some good tracks there. I'll see if I can make them work.

Tony S,
I've bought a dvd called "Cirque Eloize: Cirque Orchestra". It's like a Cirque Du Solie style presentation mostly with aerial feats accompanied by a live orchestra. I find both presentation and usic very appealing. Hope this helps. Sal |

Thanks, Sal. I'll check into that too.
Devious - thanks for the advice, but 2001 isn't for me. |

My dad used a very beautiful Chinese
piece, very traditional. But then we had a Chinese theme to our magic show. Everything was Chinese, even our chicken.

Just kidding. But no worse than 2001. Some other alternatives that come to mind, just to toss 'em out: 1) Flight of the Bumblebee 2) The THX theme - this is the sound byte you hear during the opening credits of a movie recorded in THX surround sound. Neat sound effect, anyway, though short. 3) A good rockin' piece would be Foreplay, from Boston's debut album. This is the instrumental piece often heard before the song "Longtime". The last 20 or 30 seconds or so would be perfect, I think. Darn, maybe I should've kept that to myself !
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

One rock tune that comes to mind almost immediately from Joe Satriani's The Extremist is "Rubina's Blue Sky Happiness". It's about as mellow as it gets and the melody soars. You'd swear the tune was written as a background for a levitation.

I believe D. Romeo floats his lady to "Music of the Night" as he sings it. (Pahnton of the Opera.)

"I Believe I Can Fly" - the perfect levitation song.
Just kidding, of course. |

For levitation I use an orchestra piece from "Pirates of the Caribbean".
You can't beat Walt Disney's guys' taste in dramatic music, Tony. Have fun! Roi. |

Try the "Braveheart" soundtrack or "Return to Titanic" Both were composed by James Horner.
If you are looking for something lighter (Piano) try Jim Brickman. Just remember if you use any commercial copywritten song in your act, you need to get permission from ASCAP or BMI. I have a friend who was sighted by BMI for playing a commercial radio station in his furniture store.

Thanks for the tips. I'm working on routines with a couple of different pieces right now, but haven't quite found the right one yet. I'll continue looking!
