I have a Gazzo pouch that Gary Animal used on the streets for two years. It is a really amazing piece of work. I have just recently started to do the melon load as a finish to the cups and balls, and you just can't beat the sound of the melon hitting a wooden table as it falls out of the bottom of the hat about two feet up.
The pouch is a beautiful, indispensible tool. Yours, Paul |

Penguin Magic is apparently the dealer for all Gazzo products now. It's a special order item. You place the order with Penguin and they relay your wishes to Gazzo. I went back and checked the Penguin site but I can't find the listing anymore.
You can write to him directly. His email address is posted on his website at http://www.gazzoshow.com

I tried Gazzo's pouch at his masterclass in VA. It was good, no question about that. BUT I own one of Frank Starsini's pouches. Same HIGH Quality, I think a little better design, and a LOT LOWER price. Check out Frank's pouches at his site; http://www.theambitiouscard.com Much better item than Gazzo's

The pouches are you are talking about are meant for two different things Paddy. I own both. In fact I own two Gazzos (one stitched, one laced.) and one of Frank's.
I think a better way tp put it would be that Frank's pouch works better for you, for what you do. Not that it's a better item. This basically says that the product is better, but in truth they are two different pouches now aren't they? One is machine stitched and the other is hand made and hand stitched. One is outfitted with coin pockets and other various places to put things. One is built more simply with a specific goal in mind, but noentheless there is a great deal of work put into it. As for me the Gazzo pouch works perfectly and is a thing of beauty. Frank's pouch is good too, but doesn't fit the requirements that I have for my shows. Not that its less of a pouch, just that I prefer the Gazzo for the work I do. And to think, way back in the day fellas just made one out of what was available to them, and never really thought about stuff like this. They just worked.
I am truly blessed to have a job where people are laughing all the time and everyone believes in magic....Come to think of it, I'm blessed to even have a job.

I would only add that Gazzo was customizing pouch with coin/TT pockets on the inside for people. And also, in my opinion (for what that's worth), Gaazo's decades long refinded design is the most deceptive. I do think Frank has a great pouch; I worked with it once and am planning on getting one too.

In 2005, when that post was written, the Gazzo pouches could be ordered through Magicpitch. Since then, Gazzo and Magicpitch have parted ways and now the pouches are a little harder to come by. The good news is that I have recently seen photographic evidence that Gazzo is still making them!

Well, not to lord this over anyone, but I am actually the proud owner of TWO Gazzo pouches. They are both posted on the Museum web site. I got the second one a couple of weeks ago. It's one that Gazzo used for many years.
Now, here's the interesting part. He used this thing for lots of shows. The only thing he had to replace was the laces that pull the mouth of the bag shut. That's pretty impressive.

Bill,
How would you clean a Gazzo pouch? Do you think leather polish could be used? Thanks. Jim

The first thing I would do would be to call Gazzo!
==================================== Okay.... I called Gazzo, and he said the following: 1) saddle soap to clean it, if it's absolutely necessary. 2) if saddle soap won't do the job, take it to a shoe repair place, and get them to do what needs to be done. I'll add this. In every town that has a shoe repair place, there is one that was probably founded by someone from the old world. This is the place you want to go.

Hi. Sorry to be late to this thread. Gazzo sold his pouch making business to Sammy ShowTime. His leather making website is down right now (vagabondleather.co), but his busking website is: https://sammyshowtime.com/ . He also has a Facebook page. He apprenticed with Gazzo to learn to make the poacher's pouch and he uses the same design and materials that Gazzo used. Mine is absolutely beautiful, but it took a few months to get it. Sammy is a full time performer, so he only does leather work when he has time. I sent my first email to him on June 3, 2019 and after exchanging many emails, I finally got it on October 11, 2019. He did an excellent job keeping me updated about the status and I am very, very happy with the results. He charged me the same price that Gazzo used to charge.

So... just to add, the Gary Animal cups arrived yesterday along with an original Gazzo pouch. It must be at least 10 years old and is still in perfect condition. Unfortunately it didn't come with any useable balls and living in Portugal makes it hard to get things.... so I await patiently until I find a source of good balls for them.
Anyone know where to get football (soccer) style balls that aren't hard plastic as these do not work. You can hear them rattle inside the cup! Anyway, totally happy with my purchase, finding all the kit second hand was lucky. Really like the weight to the cups... now off to practice more .... SSR |
