Hi,
I need to find a good, clean looking "find the aces" routine to fill a gap in my routine. What do you guys suggest? Thanks. Stu

Stu,
Are you looking for a flashly revelation where you know the ace positions? If so, the Birnham (I hope that is right) Revelation from Impossibilia is great. Later.... Steve |

Not to be picking on Steve, but it is Jack Birnman and Steve's recommedation for the Birnman Revelation from Impossibilia is a good one.
Seeing Jack perform it was great.

Thanks Steve,
Ideally I'm looking for a Magician cutting the Aces with minimal fiddling. I currently use a version of a Marlo (I believe) trick involving the faro, and (Gu)estimating cuts to a specific number, and while this has its plus points (cutting on the table rather than in the hands etc) it also has an undesirable element, namely transferring a card to the top after each cut. I am looking for a cleaner looking method (if one exists) I'll be sure to check Impossibilia out, *** that Bannon is good. Thanks again Steve Stu

What about a crimp or reversed card (see Hollingworth's routine in Drawing Room Deceptions!) as a locator?

Stu,
I have a cutting to the Aces routine which is a variant of Marlo's "Estimation Aces" which is the one you spoke of in your post. Mine is done without having to transfer a card to the top after each cut, and the spectator gets to shuffle after each cut. There is no palming, no extra cards, no crimps, and can be done with a regular deck.

TV Aces from Daryl's Revelations Video is great. One handed cutting the aces out of the center of the deck. No funny moves just cutting them out of the center with one hand, one at a time. Very, very easy handling too but fries magicians and laymen. Hope this helps!

Hello guido,
The Birnman revelation can be found in John Bannon's book "Impossibillia" as well as on the video "Impossibilia" by John Bannon.

Hi, Paladin, why don't you take a look at the Vallarino's Video "Card Fantasy" there you will find some great four aces trick, revelations, and cutting the aces efects.
I like the effect where Vallarino starts doing tabled slip cuts, and he throws the card he retains to the other hands, and like this he founds the four aces. MAGO68

If you just want a quick four aces production, you could always take the sleights you do know and use them. A quick four aces production to that's just to fill in a gap should be easy. Take a double turnover. You can blend it with a slip cut to reveal 2 aces or a top card cover pass to have a card reversed in the middle. Uses someone elses routine is fine but wouldn't it be more exciting if it was something you cooked up?
Another four aces trick that is beautiful is Real Gone Aces. I only had the chance to see Roger Crosthwaite's take on this. He has a manualscript called Roger's Real Gone Aces and it comes with a video companion that shows what the effect looks like when he performs it. And yes, he credits Marlo and where he found Real Gone Aces. But if you want to go for the cutting the deck route. Paul Gordon's Cause and Effect uses a lot of a four of a kind productions. My favorite is Jinx Marriage. |

You could try Harry Lorayne's HaLo Aces out of his "Rimshots" book (it's also on one of his videos). Relatively straightforward, uses only his HaLo cut, and the aces do appear to be lost in the deck at the start.

Daryl's Card Revelations has a few great Ace revelations...TV Aces as mentioned plus another instant production (the name escapes me at the moment). Of course they can be done with 4 card selections as the theme of the video series would suggest.

Lewis Jones has "Aces in a Hurry" in his "Lusions" manuscript. The magician shuffles off the deck into four different piles, with the spectator telling him where to stop with each pile. The revelation is an ace at the top of each pile.
Simple, simple, simple, yet effective.
