Jay Sankey. He changed the way I look at magic. I swear he has more angles than a protractor.
In loving memory of Hughie Thomasson 1952-2007.
You brought something beautiful to this world, you touched my heart, my soul and my life. You will be greatly missed. Until we meet again “my old friend”. |

Orson Welles (the man could, for that moment, make you believe anything he said)
Del Ray (he worked what amounted to sleight-of-hand miracles) Eugene Burger (a magician, bizarrist and philosopher whose laid back style and simplicity earmarks a true professional) Prynce Wheeler (escapology was his middle name, and with no ego baggage) Bill Brewe (friend, mentor and a kindred spirit in his fascination with the bizarre) Steve

Hi,
I have had the opportunity to view firsthand many wonderful magicians at various functions and conventions. The one that stands out is Aldo Columbini. He's funny, and entertaining. Most importantly, he and his wife are genuinely nice people. That makes him tops in my book. Chrystal |

Chris Kenner - greatest magician alive, and dare I say "ever"...yes I do. Just read his book, he puts so much thought..etc.. behind everything!
Paul Harris - creative, creative, did I mention he is very creative? Daniel Garcia - He has cool sunglasses in Torn, on a serious note he is like the Paul Harris for the next generation. Homer Liwag - Kenner's partner in creative crime |

Bill Abbott- Awesome stage presence, excellent person to bounce ideas off of, and gives an honest opinion about anything, especially when you need it. Reed mcClintock- He entertains audiences in places I wish I could work at. Great coins ideas. Curtis Kam- Great sleight of hand, and great kindness. Kainoa harbottle- Insane ideas with coin routines. James Freedman- Great nimble fingers for pickpocketing. Derren Brown- One of this day and age great entertainers and orginal ideas. David Roth- rentension of vision. Mark Wilson - the one who got me started in magic, great illusionist, and knows more about the business of magic and magic and media than anyone alive.
Harry Blackstone Sr. & Jr.- a matter of "relativity" Dai Vernon - They didn't call him the professor for nothing Harry Lorrayne - great entertainer and taught me a lot about cards Daryl Easton - great card and rope man, and tremendous entertainer. Mac King - the funniest and most entertaining magic show I ever watched Ali Bongo - who needs a reason for Ali Bongo? Chuck Lehr - Just because Joannie wouldn't list him. (and he is really quite good too).

Lance Burton really does a great dove routine at the begining of his show. It was so beautiful to watch I wish I could see it over and over again. I enjoyed the silent act with the visual productions. He really knew what he was doing to win the F.I.S.M.

My fave has always been Juan Tamariz - like his humour, and behind all the craziness the magic is superb
Also think Daniel Garcia is brilliant - just seeing torn gave me so much respect to the guy, that's even before the lecture notes and shade Others that I really like are - Eugene Burger for his theories, David Williamson for his humour, and David Acer for his humour too cheers Jase |

Thankyou for all of your replies. How about favorite tricks? Which of your favorite magician's tricks/illusions do you like best? Some of you have mentioned a few.
I really like Houdini's walking through a brick wall. Never got to see it but I love the simplicity of the method. One of my favorite Siegfried and Roy illusions is the one in which they "show the audience how" they used to do one of their tricks. They turn they're backs and perform it as if the audience were watching from backstage and there is another audience in front of them. Not sure what it's called, maybe someone can help me. I love it. "Behold. An empty box. There is nothing below, there is nothing above. And now, Ladies and Gentlemen, today, especially for you, I will make Roy appear in front of your very eyes. Maestro, drumroll please..." The music is perfect. Great presentation. I really like their performance of the origami illusion, as well. Siegfried moves so elegantly. Such precision. Beautiful. Favorite tricks performed by your favorites, anyone? |

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the late and great Tommy Cooper, seeing him perform his version of magic was a true treat
