What is your best Cups and Balls Routine you have seen, I am not really looking for any other routines, nor how to do it. I just like to know which one you have seen.
My Favorite is have 3 balls(or that is how it appears) and 4 cups. Put 3 balls in a cup, then have it on the 3 previouly empty cup. Then have it back to the empty cup. Keep on doing it back and forth. I think I have figured it out, but can't do the quickness. Pretty good. |

It's not about quickness, unless that was the intent of the performer. I don't know of many routines involving a fourth cup. Do you recall who the performer was?

I really enjoy watching Ammar's routine, especially the old footage from the 70's I believe it was.

You might try the search function; this topic has been discussed before here on the Café.
For example you would find: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......;forum=6 Read this thread first, if you still have questions then add to the thread rather than start a new one. Then you could always read: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=115 or even http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......;forum=8 closely related to your question, and about a two cup routine is: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=111 and of course the one cup/bowl (non chop cup) routine: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=115

I like Vernon........and I guess by extrapolation Michael Ammar. Ross Bertram has a fantastic routine with the live chicks at the end.
Here is where I make enemeies. I actually don't like Tommy Wonders routine for the following reason. Actually it is the reason most people like it. When he loads the bag, he actually gives up the gaff. It TELLS them how we do the trick. This is only my personal preference, not by any means a popular one mind you. But to me when we do the large loads it is a mystery that can be answered by a gaffed cup or any number of explaniations. Putting the bag under there simply tells them how it is done. Again I feel Tommy gets huge reactions with it and he is masterfull so I have no critisism, only a feeling that I wouldn't do it that way. Danny

I certainly admire the Wonder, Cellini, and Frye rountines, but my all time favorite is Ricky Jay's routine on the "52 assistants" show. Fabulous magic and a history lesson on the cups at the same time!

Scott Compton is right about Stephen Bargatze. He does several great routines. The link listed above is incorrect.
Click here for Stephen: http://www.magicofstephen.com/ The gentleman is such a class act, he never corrected me even though I called him Steven for an entire conversation. Only later did I find his name is Stephen. Scott... I'm giving you a hard time, but I did make the same mistake when first looking for Stephen's web site. He is one funny guy. David

I really enjoy watching David Williamson's The Gold Cups, a very economic routine which uses only 2 cups.

I only looked at two of the videos on that site, and I thought his material was fantastic, great lines and character mixed in with good magic-- can't lose with that.

The best was Patrick Page's. Simple and to the point - gets to the final loads, quickly.
The best finale was Dan Fleshman's 5 ball finale. Pure poetry in motion! I look forward to seeing Gazzo's routine, this fall, at the Motor City Close-Up convention. |
