Hi folks
I hope this si the right place for my question. I been doing close up magic for some years now, and been asked many times to perform in stage or for more than a group of people, but I always refused it and sticked with the close up. Now I am actually thinking of learning about stage magic, something like performing for small audiance 50-100 people. I want you to advice me on what videos to buy and in order to learn about performing for big audiance? I know every one has its own style in magic, and me I am into close up, but it would be good if I had some information about the stage magic just incase I have to put it in use. Any videos, DVDs, Books you know that are useful , please write them down and I will check them out. P.S I am not looking for grand illusions, I only need effects that can be done on stage for large group of people, dancing cane etc. Many thanks

If youre interested in stage manipulation, McBrides videos are all very helpful - World Class Manipulation has coin ball and thimble work while his card videos are very comprehensive on stage card manip (split fans, interlock production). I have a feeling though, that you may be most interested in his stage magic videos - these cover the linking rings, rope effects, dancing cane, zombie and silk magic along with other ideas such as the egg on fan, production tubes and spring flower productions. This set will help give a small stage show real substance, so its something to keep in mind.

I double that you need Mc Bride. The Magic on stage is so good... I have not got enough words to describe how good are they.

I have been doing stage magic for 3 years and I learnt from the following:
DVD's The Art of Card Manipulation, Jeff McBride The Magic of Jeff McBride, Jeff McBride McBride Magic on Stage, Jeff McBride Pack Small Play Big, Dan Harlan You could also buy stage effects and routine them in with your act. Hope this helps, Lukas

Hi Guys & Gals,
I think one of the best affordable DVD sets out on the market is "International Magicians' Society's "The Great Effects of Magic by Gary Darwin". It is a 5 DVD set with 2 Volumes per DVD. Vol. 1 - Productions & Appearances Vol. 2 - Disappearances & Vanishes. Vol. 3 - Transpositions Vol. 4 - Transformations Vol. 5 - Penetrations Vol. 6 - Restorattions Vol. 7 - Levitations & Suspensions Vol. 8 - ESP Vol. 9 - Spirit Effects Vol. 10 - Identifications It's around $80 (US) plus shipping. The best learning tool I have seen for magic. Good Luck |

I am planning on getting McBride's stage manipulation video as well. I've heard it's fantastic. Plus, I've seen him three card manipulations videos, and I must say that they are fantastic and he is a wonderful teacher.
