Hi Everyone...
I Have a set of CC Knives someone gave me. I like the effects, but I don't like the knives. Cant remember who made them but they are pretty cheap. I am looking for a good quality set. I have been looking at the Mogar Knives. They look like high quality, but also high dollar. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks all, BobbyJ |

I do not have the Mogar knives but have had a chance to briefly play with a set. They are very good. There is nothing wrong with using a cheap set however as the effect is the same to the spectators no matter what set you are using.

Euangelion uses the bone set, too, but I have, also, bought the black stag and red knives. I simply love the quality of Joe Mogar's work.

Thanks for the input guy's. My cheap set of knives don't look good, they look cheap, that's why I don't want to use them. I am going to order a set of Mogars today. From what you guys say, I'm sure I'll be happy with them. Thanks again.

Mark is right. I had - and recently sold - Tamariz knives... because I didn't need all the variations and have settled on the Scotty York set. Altho I have a couple of old sets that I had made up by a custom knife shop.

I am using Joe Mogar's Giant knives in a stand-up, platform act right now. I have reviewed them at:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/searc......=4208728 Mogar's knives are well made, designed for easy use (doing the "move") and most readily available. You simply can't go wrong.

I do not know where to them but try the "Whitt Hayden Knifes" It is a set off 3
the best part is the black is a bone material and the white smooth so you can feel them in your pocket and know what you got. |

Pete Biro provided the prototype knives for the Scotty York set when we did those. I still have that set, Pete, that you gave me and suggested I try to find some like those which we did.
Here's what I'd do if I wanted a set of unique knives. I would find a pocket knife that I liked and buy a half dozen of them. I'd buy three of each if there's two colors or more if theres more colors. THen I would set out to make up a few sets. You can pry those scales (thats what the bone, wood or plastic inlays on the sides of the knife are called) off with the tip of a pocket knife. Some of them crack easily so go slow. The rest of obvious from here. You can even make up the split handle knife for Merrill's visible color change. I still have a few copies of the instruction set (but no more York knives) with Scotty's routine and another with Fred Kaps routine in conjunction with Scotty. Only a few copies left here from the FYEO (Tabman York and Wells) days. -=tabman

For some serious advice on CC knives, try to contact JP Jackson in San Diego. You may or may not find any access to him on the Web (JP has no plans to computerize although someone used to sell his collectibles- the link has changed or I'd post it) but I think he is in the phone book.
He has collected CC's for years and knows the ins and outs of almost every brand. He has made a few sets of his own as well but he isn't a manufacturer.

Thanks guys,
I've been doing CC Knives for over a year, and just wanted a new set. Got the Mogars in the mail Sat. I like the way they look and feel. I can tell which one I have by touching, no need to sneak a peek. These will bw the ones I use from now on. BobbyJ |
