Greetings

Just got mine today. It turns the Haunted Key into a three phase routine. The last phase being the classic Haunted Key. The other two phases use a little gimmick. After playing with it a little I think it has potential.

I saw Barrie lecture in the UK a few years ago and he performed and explained this effect.

It definately improves the original effect and the spectator can not recreate the 'gimmicked' phase of the routine, whereas any spectator can recreate the regular haunted key routine just by placing the key on their palms!

The key has been around for a while, so I wonder if anyone else has any thoughts or comments. I always carry my aged Haunted Key (purchased from Carlyle), and am considering adding this to my repertoire.

Flliot,

Richardson's routine is very sneaky and adds some spooky visual elements to the 'Hanted Key' premise. There are two different closed-hand animations of the key preceding the usual open-hand key rotation.

The M.O. is delighfully simple and something that can be carried at all times with no effort whatsoever.

I have been using this short routine as a casual piece since seeing Richardson do it in a lecture four or five years ago. It does take a few hours practice to get the movements smooth, and my guess is that even this minimal learning time deters many from using this piece. Good! The less people performing it the better!

Recommended.

I just got "Act II" and thought this key routine was in there. Guess this is being marketed separatley. Sounds like it worth having. During Halloween, The HK is my favorite routine to perform in Salem.

Bloodkin,

Obviously this routine would work perfectly at Halloween.

However, it is so unusual that you'll find yourself wanting to perform it far more regularly.

I always have the key in my pocket and will use the routine if the conversation heads anywhere near supernatural territory. I refuse to discuss anything about what they see, and seem (presentationally) quite reticent to even discuss how I came into possesion of the key...

Cool idea Royce. I like it. I've noticed too that Chazpro carries a House key style haunted key. This would be perfect for straight PK effects. Would Barrie's gimmick work on this?

I just came across this thread doing some research and Yes if someone is looking at this you can use the gimmick with other similar style haunted key effects
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary; for those who do not believe, no explanation will suffice.

Hello,

I just have to say that this effect takes the Haunted Key effect to a whole new level.

You could make a fist with the key inside and suddenly the key just starts to rotate several turns.

When you open your hand there is nothing to see.

Fabulous effect in my opinion.

I am wondering if anybody who performs this effect knows where I can get the gimmick that makes the key move? I went to JoAnn's today and couldn't find anything close to what Barrie describes in Curtain Call.
