Hi All
For those unfamiliar with us, we are a 'professional' magic camp in Canada that is now in our ninth year. We have magicians attend from all levels and all locations. For more detailed info, please check out our website at http://www.Sorcerers-Safari.com Many of the Café forum members have attended, and a few have suggested I post this info. If you are interested in any aspect of the camp, I invite you to write me, or post here, and I will do my best to answer as soon as possible. The camp this summer runs from August 27th until September 2nd. When we return, I will let you know the dates for summer 2006, as they do change. This summer, as well as our Café 'regulars' (who really aren't 'regular', in any sense of the word) like Steven Kline, Lee Asher, Murray Hatfield, Dan MacLean Jr. etc. as well as all the campers, I am happy to anounce our special guest this summer is Gregory Wilson. We also have a DVD available which shows some of what we do up there. If interested in getting one, let me know. There is a slight charge for it ($15 including shipping). So, there you go. A bit of info on one of magic's best kept secrets. I look forward to hearing from you all. Take care, Magic Mike |

Hi, Mike!
For those of you who aren't yet familiar with Sorcerers Summer Safari, past guests have included Lee Asher, Aaron Fisher, Nate Kranzo, Dan Harlan, David Acer, Jay Sankey, Johnny "Ace" Palmer, Greg Frewin, Oscar Munoz, Josh Jay, Steven Kline, Ryan Joyce, David Merry, Muray Hatfield, Loran, Dick Joiner, Glenn Ottaway (and a TON of others) and a few of them will even be back this year! The young magicians who attend get a week of magic, magic classes, magic shows, swimming, magic, canoeing, magic shows, splash contests, magic classes, and magic at one of Canada's top-rated camp facilities! The thing is that I KNOW I get as much out of it as the campers do! If you're a young magician, or if you know a young magician, this is the place to be!!! See ya there! To every one that has never been there, I went there las t year for the first time and it was great and it was great!
I would recomend it to any one that has never gone there to check it out. it was a blast and a great learning experience. I have so much fun... Steven Kline got pied in he face by Lee Asher, A few friends that I met there and me had a big water fight with Lee, I met a bunch of new friends, the classes were awesome and the shows at the end of the day are amazing! Sam Pearce. PS, Dan are you running the booth again (if you were last time, but I thought you were), well if you are let me know, because I have a few questions about using audio at the camper show night. Thanks. |

Hi, Sam! I wasn't running things in the booth for any of the shows. Because I'm a cabin counselor, and teaching the Theatre Production class on a few days, I can't be there for set-up & sound/light checks, so Steve Kline & Lee Asher took care of most of the production stuff for the pro shows, with the help of several other folks. I helped by operating the stage curtains for the professional shows. As far as the audio for the Camper Show Night goes, last year, the entire show was run by campers! We had campers running the audio mixer, the CD/MiniDisc cues, the stage lights, the spotlight, the house lights, and the stage curtains, and helping with props & illusions, and we even had a camper MC the show! This whole thing was incredible to witness. I think the only pro's invloved were two guys with walkie-talkie's to help co-ordinate things. All of these "theatre production technicians" were drawn from the Theatre Production class that I taught. As far as I know, the Camper Show will be run the same way this year. By the way, I'm in the class every day, and last year we had daily special guests like Oscar Munoz, Steven Kline, Loran, Sheldon Cassavant, Ray Anderson, and David Merry! See ya there, Sam! Dan.

Dear World,
I have nothing on 'The BA --- Woosh' king. Dan 'THE GREAT WHITE NORTH' is unbeatable. He trains all year for this event. I don't even compete anymore... But, I will be there! Can't ever miss camp -- or any of its great times. Lee Asher ps. If you aren't there -- YOUR LOSS! Truly.

I'm with Lee - there is no comparison to the "Great White North ".
Dan has honestly worked years creating this incredible weapon of destruction - notice this is not a weapon of MASS destruction as it only showcases its force in the lake - apparantly from the top platform of the guard chair ! lesser men have been swept back to the beach but I have endured and actually have a picture of the forces being cast upon the campers - oh not from the side of the pool, but from the shadow of the weapon being hurlded into the air and coming oh so close to removing me from this earth ! I escaped with my life only after a minute or 2 of coughng and hacking up lake water ! The picture paints a story that will make you wonder 1. why I did it and 2. how in the world did I survive...... See you all soon !

All my best to you guys again this year! I am sure it will be another amazing year! Wish I could make it. Very Best, Ryan PS: I too have seen first hand "The Great White North" it's a miraculous and destructive force that all men, women, and child should fear. Great post Kline

There are a couple of magic things I wanna get ready, and I have to finish putting together my musical set for the "Staff Coffee House" night. It's a good thing I'm taking an extra week of vacation BEFORE camp!
Can't wait to see everyone!
