I am looking to get a portable, set-up-in-a-gymnasium, tears-down-and-packs-semi-flat aparatus with lights and whatnot that I can use to perform shows not in a theatre. One place I am thinking of in particular is a school. But anyway, that's off topic.
I also don't want to buy one just yet. I'm looking for prices. Does anyone here own one that would be willing to share how much they paid for it? Thanks in advance, Jared

This is just one option I found with a quick google search. Search on Portable Stages on Google and you will find a ton of sites with pricing. Martin

Hi Jared,
The best portable stage for your needs is mad by SICO. They make a stage that fold in half and has wheels. It can be set-up with one person, but two is easier. They vary in price, but there is a similar one on ebay with a starting bid of $500, and a Buy it now of $700. This is for a 4 x 8 section. You will need several sections to create a large stage. For example, I use a 16 x 20 stage, and it requires 10 pieces. Stages that pack flat are too much set-up and require lifting because you have to lift up the deck, place the support legs in, and place it in position. The stage that I use by Biljax is 4 x 4 and packs flat, but once you have 20 pieces (for 6 x 20 stage), then you have two large sections stacked 6 feet high and weighs 1,000 pounds per a large section. I only use this stage because it is owned by my church and they let me use it for free. If I had to buy one, the I would get a sico. Lights are separate from the stage. You can buy trailer stages with light trusses built in, but they can not be set-up inside, and they are very expensive. There is currently a used one on ebay for $10,000. I hope this helps, Brock Edwards |

I have to say I was very impressed with the spider flex stage parts seen at the Reno IBM convention. Contact them and take a look, they might cost a bit, but are very compact, and very sturdy, I am no lightweight, and I stood on a section and felt very secure.
