Publicly available magic: a good thing?

We take the Anglo Lewis / Professor Hoffmann Magic books as a good thing, yet they were written for the public. We take Expert Card Technique as a good thing, yet it was compiled without the permission of some notables whose material was simply seen then reconstructed. We take as granted some of yours truly's work and have even lauded those who took it to print, who published it, and who continue to claim the right to do so. These are the ethics in our community. Sorry we are not going to argue about what is. Instead, let's proceed to the conundrum.

On the widipedia, an online and open encyclopedia, Paul Curry's Out of This World, and other magic items are described. This is the internet/information age. Here is a link:

Would it be a good thing to post descriptions of magic items there complete with explanations? You may well ask what I mean by the term "good thing". Here is Aristotle on the subject for those who wish to read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicomachean_Ethics

According to the evidence offered in the first paragraph one might expect such would be a good thing.

What do you think?

Folks might also be interested in this link, where there is a discussion among Wiki users about whether exposing secrets on the Wikipedia is ok or not:

For those with access to secret sessions, there is an ongoing discussion there:
