Could the answer be 'Beheaded'?

Ziatro,

Excellent, logical guess. I think you've found the
method of solution rather than the solution itself.

I thought this looked a little too easy. Now let me think......... oh God I've got a migraine. This is probably why I don't do cryptic crosswords.

Jonathan the very thought that Oliver Cromwell was run over by a Fiat is totally ridiculous. Even a first year English history student knows that because of the Anglo/Italian export embargo of 1599, the first Fiat could not have possibly been imported into England until the 'Relaxation of trade restrictions act' was ratified in 1672. Shame on you.

Fiat has another meaning. As in Fiat lux. or as the red queen said: "off with her head".

I always thought Fiat was latin for rust. That's been my experience anyway.
The world is a wonderful place.
Let's make it more so.

Aah - it becomes clear now. No, the answer is not Fiat lux

Stan dropped a good hint in his post as to how to get the solution

Specifically, were they all beheaded by Henry the VIII?

No, not all of them were beheaded by Henry VIII. Keith Jennings, for example, was the photographer in The Omen (played by David Warner) who met a rather grisly end when a sheet of (metal? glass? can't remember) fell off the back of a lorry. A few of them lost their lives during the French Revolution at the hands of Robespierre, who also met a similar fate later. Ramirez and Kruger were characters in The Highlander... I could go on.

Basically, these are all historical or fictional characters who have all lost their head (in the case of Cromwell, it happened after his death). However, that in itself isn't the solution.

When you know what to do (and the list should make it evident), the answer will make itself very clear

Anyone else got there yet?

(Oh, I was right - Stan was the first to solve it... well done, mate!)

No, sorry. The answer is a single ten letter word.

O.K. I know this is going to be wrong but is the word you are looking for either subsequent or succeeding, because this would be your state if you were to be headed (beheaded). Let me down lightly Stephen.

Jonathan Townsend,

I think (but am not sure) that you also figured this out.
Yes?

I'm not sure that Jonathan has solved it yet... if he has, I've been too think to get his puns.

OK - how to solve:

What has happened to the people on the list? All have lost their head. Has anyone done (as has been suggested) and carried out the act on the list?
