Well, it's not REALLY a spoiler. Is anyone else reading this? Rather, is anyone else noticing and enjoying all the references to our kind of magic (which the book refers to as "Muggle Magic Tricks")?

I think it's really interesting and fun to read, and I don't know how she keeps on pumping out these huge great books.

Yes reading the book. A more active read and some studies of literature, semiotics and co-text will get you some clues and a few answers. What I like more than her take on reality is her style that makes the HP world and events intersting. In literature both form and function count.

It's a good read. I will (obviously) not reveal it myself, but I was crushed when, the day after I got the book, someone on another message board, on a thread completely unrelated to Harry Potter, decided to give away the end of the book.

Even knowing it though, it was a good read.

Giving away the end of any book kills many hours of good "magical" entertainment. My nother explained that reading was a form of magic (one I practice religiously).

Yes, I am a magician. No I did not make my hare (hair) disappear... it just took early retirement.

The same thing happened to me the day after I got the book. Smile

I love how in the end Harry and Hermoine get married (just kidding). Anyway, I finished this in a week and I have to say I wonder how J.K. Rowling is going to wrap this all up in one more book? Who else is thinking there is either going to be a major cliffhanger ending in the 7th book, or that there may even be an 8th book? (though I of course highly doubt it)

I think she has the series very well planned out. I think there's still a lot we don't know, and it's all going to be cleared up in book 7.

Over at the PVP comic site, the topic of the week is the new Harry Potter book. You can see the strips so far here and here.

I just finished reading this and was very suprised when Harry actually killed Lord Voldemort on page 653. Death by Pigmypuffs I honestly didn't see that one coming.
I'm looking forward to the final installment "Harry Potter and the Overdue Vacation" which hopefully will come out next summer.

There can't be 8 because "7 is the magic number!"

How many have been sold, 20 Million? "Harry Potter and the Killer of Trees" says I. The ending was very upseting, revealed or not. Brace yourselves.

Just got done reading it and I enjoyed it. I was just thinking about something. I wonder if this story will end up an adult story in the end. I mean the kids will be grown up and the writer will also change through time. Might even hope to finally attract a more adult audience.

Could you imagine the last movie being rated R? Smile

J.K. Rowling has said from the very beginning that this is NOT a children's story. She took a lot of flack at the darkness of books 3 & 4...not to mention 5...which some parents I know have refused to let their kids read. She's also stated flat out that principal characters were expected to die in books 6 & 7.

Don't get too hung up on the ending.
As any magician will tell you, things are not always as they appear.

I'm in the minority in my household for advocating this exact view. (Maybe it's a magician thing.)

Without doing any spoilers this is going to be a challenge, but let's just say that Rowling's track record is on my and Steve's side. Smile Every book has had more to it than first appeared on the surface, and I think there's far more to the relationship between the two characters involved in "The Ending" than we have yet been told.

Hopefully, we'll be told in Book 7.
