Does anyone know anything about a cups and balls routine using transparent cups? -- and I do NOT mean a Penn&Teller-type exposure. I heard of a routine a few years ago (I think it used sponge balls), but have never seen one in print. A search of this site and Google didn't turn up anything.

While several people have attempted different clear C&B routines, you are most likely thinking of Jason Latimer. He is a very talented young man who stormed FISM 2003.
"He took the classical street effect of Cups and Balls to the next level, as he performed the Cups and Balls effect with clear glass cups. An astounding effect that Jason had created from scratch where audience members can visually witness balls vanish and appear from within an upside down glass. At the end of his performance the audience of the World Championships of Magic rose to their feet in a standing ovation"... because the glass being used was shown to be solid glass (no opening!)

The routine is very visual and stunning to witness first hand.

Here's a thread that has some discussion about Latimer's routine.

Jeffrey Campbell, of the Waukesha, Wisconsin, Jest For Fun Joke Shop, has a manuscript for Crystal Cups. I believe he is also it's author. Contact him through his website.

Here is his write up on the booklet: Crystal Cups ($9.95) Campbell - This was my first published book (Micky Hades International 1983). It began as a challenge from good buddy Don Lamb to do the cups and balls with clear cups. The challenge was accepted by Ron Dayton and myself. This book is the result. (autographed on request)

Some magicians go crazy over novelties. try doing a chop cup routine with a soda glass and see how it works in the real world.

Being new to performing magic and VERY new to C&B's, I am floored...I have NO idea how this would work and would love to see a clip of it being performed.

Any out there?

Thanks,

Prof. Piper
