One guy says he is blind so he can say he did not see it. One guy says he is deaf so he does not have to here it. The other guy motions that he is dumb so folks won't ask him to say it. Remember, the message could be indirect, say a written statement to the wife. More to the point, the wife must have her reasons and it would be outright foolish to presume upon what the husband knows or does not know.

Things do become graphic when a mute person tries to explain about *** (you know what). The mute person MIGHT even have to use the blind mans hands to try and get the message so then things become MORE graphic. This method goes out of the window becouse it take AGES to comunicate and blind man might misunderstand the missage and put an end to their friendship. SIMPLE. Why doesn't the dumb man write a letter to a mutual friend and get him to read it to the blind man?
Better still, write to the Jerry Springer show

Mehtas,
Can the Mute send him a singing telegram. He can order it on-line and type what he wants to say. With all due respect, this puzzle is flawed on many different levels. There have been many viable solutions given. I'd like to know how the %&^% he gets in and out of town on his own. Maybe we are all missing something here and this is one of those puzzles where you are only allowed objects as a form of communication. How far did you get? Maybe that can lead us in the right direction. |

Lambertmoon,
I am very close to solving the puzzle. my basic fomula is 90% of the solution. I have two solutions to this puzzle. The 2nd one is not easy but it WILL work. I will post the formula in couple of days time. Maybe I might complete the solution by then. The good news is that one of you guys have come VERY close to the solution. at the moment I wont say who he is but my hats off to him. :kewl: |

So the puzzle is not to figure out how a mute man can communicate with a blind man, but rather to read your mind?

As those who've puzzled over some of my writings may have learned, once a text is taken out of its ecology, there are unexpected and perhaps a countable infinity of options afforded by the typography alone. Put the text on a tableaux and you can make a meal of it. So, what is the context?

I think that if the dumb person was to put the blind mans hands on the dumb mans face and nod for YES and sideways for NO.Then the blind man would realise that by asking a question the response would either be a YES or NO answer, and so let the game commence.Mike

Hmmmm. Was he disabled? Did he want to go on Jerry Springer? The reality of the situation described is emotionally loaded and the statement of the problem precludes such normal/obvious options as an open marriage and threesomes.
This is why I was asking about the context or roots of the problem. There are other ways to phrase the thing without reference to sex or marriage issues. Consider that two students in a class want to invite a third to a party and yet keep a fourth from feeling bad even though not invited.... In answer to some folks questions on other threads, yes I look at the boundaries of a problem as more interesting than the solutions. A flash of insight only catches fire ( or significance ) in a context. The boundaries of the problem are a map of that context.
