This is a question without a firm answer perhaps but one that I have been pondering lately. I perform a routine that begins with some card magic, progresses to coins and ends with cups and balls. I believe the routine itself flows well and is easy to follow. I have also tried to keep the effects homogenous enough to seem like they belong together. What I have noticed however is that I have a lot of translocation effects in the routine. I don't know if having all the same type of effect (but presented differently) is a strength or a hindrance. Perhaps the routine would gain from more transformations and so forth. I am experimenting but would welcome any thoughts and experiences on the matter.

The main thing, I think, would be to see how your spectators react to this. If the translocation effects aren't too repetitive for them, then don't worry about it.

Be sure to give them time to respond. Flowing is good, if it doesn't rush over your act.
