Hey guys,
I just saw a video of Criss Angel performing, the awesome string from eye effect.Ive already devised a number of methods which are generally flawed and was wondering if a method for this trick has ever been published. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

Very good point, its just the problems I've had are regarding the possibility of damage to my eye, they usually are extremely bloodshot following the trick which doesn't look good,I love this trick and would really like to track down someone who could help me out regarding the proper method for performing it. As always,Any pointers would be appreciated greatly. |

Just to answer your question about where this effect is published...well it isn't, however it will be in a book by the creator, Wayne Houchin, although this won't be for a few years because of contract issues with Criss Angel. I like most people have come up with some methods but they involve possible pain and damage, so I may not try it quite yet, although I really want to! I hear the actual method involves pain, so anyone thinking this will be easy and totally painless all the time, is probably wrong.

Hi voice of reason, aren't you connected with Wayne Houchin in some way? I also didn't know you did magic? Also you cant buy it yet, not until the book comes out in a few years which I cant wait for, I love Waynes style its the same as mine so the book should be really good.

I write for a national art / entertainment publication based here in Northern California. I've interviewed Houchin in the past and I am currently talking to him about a new article and a publicity stunt involving a Superbowl prediction.
Oh, and yes, I’ve been doing magic as a hobby since I was eight years old and I have seen Houchin's work steadily creating more and more of buzz around this area. Believe me when I say that you won't believe some of the other videos of his original effects that he is planning on uploading to his site in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out for "Jump in the Sack With Me" and "Counterfeit Hollingworth" (though I don't think he's even shot the rough footage for "Hollingworth" yet). I'll let the videos speak for themselves, but you should know that my opinion is in no way biased because I know Wayne personally. In my line of work objectivity is critical and I am very good at what I do, so here is my objective opinion. Houchin is brilliant. It's really that simple. His presentations are unique, intelligent and affective. He connects to his audiences effortlessly because he’s not a nerd in a cape performing with a change bags, silks and a crippled set of social skills. And unlike some other performers (*ahem* Criss Angel), he plays to the intelligence of his audiences, rather than the ignorance. Sorry Criss, I know you and Wayne are friends and all, but that whole objectivity thing is getting the better of me right now. Telling your audience things like “this isn’t a trick – what you see is what you get,” and implying that you are in any way greater than Houdini with your series on the least watched cable network of all time only speaks to the fact that you are banking your viewers being too uninformed to know any better. I’m sure you’re a nice person and it seems that you have some excellent business sense, but playing to ignorance is by no means necessary to astonish people. Houchin is living proof of that. Cheers all and happy magi-ing. |

I'd love to know why, just look closely at the shape of his belly-button in the rest of the episode and you should be able to figure it out, personally I think that trick was an insult to performers who perform the "real" version. |

I don't think I'd be that harsh but yeah It looked kind of obvious to me too but hey whatever works. I've got some pretty good reactions from people just doing the tic tac technique from Tomas Medina's geek magic dvd.

Ellisd,
Can you please elaborate on the " tic tac technique " that you just mentioned from Medina's geek magic dvd ? I'm curious to learn more about whatever that is before I go and purchase the dvd. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. Matt |
