This one took me a little over a day to figure out, but I got it. See if any of you can do it too. |

This is one of the all time classics. It is brilliant in its simplicity.

When I first saw this one it had me going for a few days, at least. Then, I looked at it again and noticed certain intersection points on the grid...if you get what I'm saying. I don't want to give it away here, but it is absolutely brilliant, I must say.

Associated with this problem are the disappearing items puzzles where you swap the two top rectangles of a picture ( say of 13 ducks ) and suddenly you have a picture with one less item ( only 12 ducks ). There are some very clever variations on this theme, one I actually printed out and stuck to three pieces of card which features cartoon people, and you suddenly lose one of those characters. Very clever idea and it took me ages to get to grips with the concept.

While I get the triange intuitively, I still don't have a handle on the dissapearing individual (the one I know has gnomes or dwarves or something like that).

You ever notice that they don't suggest you use tracing paper for that vanishing critter puzzle? There is a version using envelopes on the net.

THanks. Seeing it with two pieces instead of three makes all the difference.
