Hi all,
I have just purchased a Mullica wallet after previously (and still often) using Steve Draun's RM wallet. After experimenting with lots of different ways to load the card into the right position, from top & bottom of the deck, from gambler's cop etc: I was wondering if there was any good material :- a) For different methods/ideas for loading b) For use of Mullica wallet (effects) ps. I have Jerry Mentzer's "Card To Wallet" book, so no need to recommend it. Any thoughts gratefully received. |

I haven't seen anything in print, but I know there is some somewhere. The best advice I was given is that the no palm method works like a TC.
Yes, that is my real name. Yes, I am a real person. No, you probably won't agree with me.

It would take way too long to explain here, I'd simply recommend to you this: check out Eugene Burger's video on restaurant magic, Gourmet Close-up Magic. He has some extensive work on the Mullica wallet there.

On Darwin Ortiz's Cardshark tapes he does a routine in which he uses a Mullica Wallet in which the deck practically doesn't leave the site of the audience. His handling of the wallet is very smooth..it's worth checking out.
I can't remember if it's Pick-Up on South Street or Harry in Your Pocket..maybe someone on here knows. All the best, Rick

Nothing wrong with the handlings described in "Showtime At The Tom Foolery" (book) or Mullica's handling that should have come with the wallet (if not an unauthorized copy).
FWIW Cheers!

Thanks for the replies.
The reason for asking, is that I think I (may) have come up with an alternative handling that has not been in print. Although it is loaded from the bottom of the deck, I have not seen this exact method before. Normally, if the load is from the top of the deck it is handled like a t** ch****. If it is from the bottom, the bottom card is either buckled & stolen or taken in the action of a b****m d*** whilst obscuring PART of the top of the deck by the wallet (which is how I used to do it prior to coming up with this other idea). I don't claim it to be NEW. What is new in magic ? I always like to do the research on any sleight/effect that I develop to see what other people have come up with. It is in personalising effects/sleights that I gain my enjoyment and from researching others work that broaden my knowledge. Thanks again to all who replied and I will check out the material suggested. |

Could've been in some Knigge lecture notes or a John Riggs idea...hmmmm...but use some DS tape on the wallet...the deck doesn't even have to be in your hands to "load" the card...

I actually load from a full palm. I like being able to go to pocket with an empty hand, show both sides of the wallet (indirectly of course) and then open it and remove the signed card from the zippered compartment.
Using The Hip Pocket Mullica of course... |

I mercury fold the card, then take the wallet from rear pocket. Avoids the odd chance of flashing.

I believe that Eugene Burger uses David Parr's idea for the Mullica wallet. Please read David's work in his book 'Brain Food' starting on page 55. Great stuff!

I don't have a Mullica wallet, but after reading David Parr's wallet work in Brain Food (as Jim mentioned) I was inspired to adapt the approach to a wallet that I gaffed myself. It's good stuff.
