Hehe.
I thought the same when I first started using it. "Man, you cant spread cards for sh|t with this in the deck." But last time I tried and wiped them off properly, it worked pretty well.

It is all in the application - if you know the system for French Polishing (used for furniture) I was shown it many years ago and it works.
You sort of rub the powder in and 'off' at the same time and it doesn't leave much residue. I tried the little machine that you load with powder and feed the cards through one by one and I've tried the 'bag' method - I have stuckl with the 'French polishing' method. It takes longer but I find it to be the best for me. Dave

Tried it yesterday again.
I skipped the wiping of the cards this time and just gave them a few faro shuffles and stuff. Did it from a fresh deck, I really hate new decks as they glide too much. But Fanning Powder did the job, gave them some good friction. Yeye, changed my mind about it, I will keep using this. ^^

I like the method of putting the cards in a bag and adding a couple of shakes of the fanning powder. To get rid of excess fanning powder I give the deck a couple of slaps or riffles. Then I shuffle them just for good measure.

Yeah, that's what I use. Quick and thourough, probably not as good as rubbing them, but it gets the job done.

Gosh, I don't like powder too much but that's because I am too much of a purist.

Hmm....I guess youre just being picky then. seriously though, if they were brand new right out of the pack then yes, cards do tend to feel a little gritty when theyre new with fanning powder. Id recommend just doing some stuff with them, presure fans springs etc, and apply a few more coats of fanning powder. That should get it all worked into the little crevices so they'll feel great.

My first experience with fanning powder was a disaster. I hated using the deck and discarded it. I learned later that I had to work witht he deck some since it was fresh out of the pack when I used the powder on it. After a while of fanning, springing, and just generally working the deck I began to notice that it felt much better and it is still to this day one of my favorite flourish decks.

I would love some Fanning powder. But Unfortunately, the magic dealers around here don't have any.

Put some fanning powder on a plate and rub the front and back of each card on the powder. Then you should take a paper towel and rub it off. Once you do that, put the cards interlocked face back face back etc. put them back in the box and then put the box in the vegetable crisper in the fridge. It works wonders on a deck of cards.
