Just received this DVD. I must say this is a high quality video, with slow motion and close-up like no other I have seen on the market. The material is surprising as she uses a card grip that most magicians like Jeff McBride and the late Neil Foster would not use. This is one of the oldest card grips I know of and she puts it to excellent use.
Even though they call it shooting cards, it is really throwing cards. There is an explaination of her form of card productions. Again this is a technique that most magicians have not used because of the size of the fan. This technique is explained in Chavez course and in Marlo's Card Fan Production booklet from Magic Inc. Marlo explains this method and the more popular method. She does not give any info on steals, concealment or gimmick holders. This is just on her technique. It will take some time to perfect this method of production and if you want to shoot the cards this will even take longer. I highly recommend this DVD for the information contained in detail on this card methodology. I enjoyed the Juliana Chen's personality and her care in discussing this important part of her FISM winning act. I think the video was to short as I find myself wanting more. There is even a explaination section on herself or a short bio that you will come to appreciate her even more. She is a true success story. After only six years migrating to Canada, she went to compet in FISM and won the 1st time out. Now she is a full time performing magician around the world. Shows you want hard work and determination will bring you. Buy this DVD it is very good! |

I found that Viking is selling the cards used in the video as Manipulation Cards-Chen. These yellow back cards are sleightly shorter then Juliana Chen's white back cards and she recommends these for the 2 and 3 card throwing move. The shorter cards make it easier to quickly separate the number of cards needed.
http://www.vikingmagiccompany.com/?nd=full&key=983 You will also need her wax for the cards if you desire to use this method of treating cards instead of fanning powder. http://www.vikingmagiccompany.com/?nd=full&key=1004 or here http://www.stevensmagic.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=6328 I cannot find her white back cards, sorry. |
